H2 rebranded as History 2

This seems to have quietly happened in the week. History’s sister channel H2 has been renamed History 2 with a new logo and a look based on the main channel’s sliding graphics.

The name change seems a little strange to me, as this is the channel mainly known for showing the decidedly unhistoric Ancient Aliens and related programmes. They were just about able to get away with it by not having the word ‘history’ anywhere in the branding, so it seems odd to start using it now. You’d think it’d be happening the other way round, like with MTV.

I guess if it's not live it can be passed off as "history". And even live stuff is the history of the future.

I literally did not know this channel even existed.

H2 actually seems to show more History related programming and documentaries than History, which seems to show more reality programming, so I think this rebrand makes perfect sense.

Whenever I see it, they always seem to be showing that ancient aliens show with the mad hair internet meme guy.

Blaze shows that a lot too.

No idea what it's about, but surely the word 'ancient' in Ancient Aliens qualifies it for History?

It's been criticised for promoting Pseudoscience and Pseudohistory. Wouldn't you expect facts on the History channel, not speculation?

More like the sort of show that belongs on SyFy.

I have to say though one thing this is the first new logo of a TV channel that I love since 2 years ago
