Bit of an ident blunder from TG4.
https://streamable.com/yrezh To help those who don't speak Irish, the ident was the lead into the news which reported the unfortunate death of a woman who's holiday caravan was picked up by a storm and thrown down a cliff.
That is unbelievable. TG4 have a good selection of idents so this really shouldn't have happened. The ident should be pulled altogether for a while out of respect.
TX Schedules tend to have templates where the idents would be auto-generated, but someone in Presentation should have manually switch it out if inappropriate.
No-one complained, it was an unfortunate co-incidence / error.
I'm sure if this was on a UK channel there'd be a massive reaction, especially on Twitter, untold complaints to Ofcom and calls for heads to roll over it.
There was some new theme music from the new preview for Winning Streak which came up before the 6.1 news on RTÉ One. There was a nice mix of blue lighting draped with red curtains in the corner of the set. A new electric car from Renault will be up for grabs for one of their new games called Car Keys. It has the new Winning Streak logo stuck on top of it's front bonnet. Marty & Sinead were speaking into the camera but no audience was present behind them in the seats?
Does anyone know if the studio used for Winning Streak been fully upgraded to HD broadcasting yet?

I thought Studio 1 and 4, the two largest studios at RTE were available in HD?
It's an image of the TV and Radio listings on the 31st of October 1977 from the Dublin Evening Press. You might notice that RTE is right at the end of the page, and in the TV Preview Column, it's all about UK TV Programmes except for a bit added on at the end about the uninspired choices on RTE The Evening Press was Generally a Dublin Paper with a Nationalist outlook but they did the listings the way their readers wanted.
At last the National Lottery have gone back to using a single Winning Streak logo.
Heaven knows why they used different logos for the show and the scratchcard for ten years. Isn't this a practice that basic marketing courses advise against?
Obviously, the show has a new set, new titles, a new theme tune and new games, in addition to the new logo. Part two remains largely unchanged, however - the good cause segment, High/Low Share, the Wheel Reveal, "Spin! That! Wheel!" and the confetti are all still present. And, of course, no change to the hosts - I believe this is the start of Marty's tenth year on the show; only original host Mike Murphy has been there longer.

By 1977, a large chunk of the Irish republic had access to the UK channels, either via spill over from Northern Ireland or Wales, or via cable television available in Dublin, Waterford and a few other areas, so the television listings were going to provide extensive UK channels schedules. RTE only had one television channel and one main radio station at the time, not much choice from RTE.
