Speaking of Australia, has anyone ever seen Millionaire Hot Seat which is essentially a more fast paced version of the show
The Hot Seat in Australia has a year or two worth of eps from an uploader (can't find off top of my head) on Youtube, along with AU chase etc. I really like the hot seat... Or did until a quite dreadful 2018 change.
So essentially rotation of contestants and when people answer wrong the top prize comes down. So always you're at scenario usually of 20 or 50K or 1K safety net for final question if most contestants are gone. Or worst case you get to £1M question and you lose and it is 1K. I found it great TV for 20-22 mins.
To compete with the AU Chase on the other side, 9 decided to make the Hot Seat an hour long... First half an hour is a 15 question "fastest finger first" style format which resembles 100% from Ch5 with an audience... It's terrible viewing which some how spins half the show, no real chat to the contestants and all it does is give the leading contestant £1K and a chance later in the show to trade it for ONE lifeline. Looked a hideous madeup in 5 mins format change over the winter break. I watch it still but often just fast forward to the "main show" part.
On the old or current AU Millionaire - I'd go as far as to say Eddie McGuire is as close as it gets to Tarrant. However he spent way too long (even longer than Tarrant) on some of the big winning runs to reveal answers to contestants on the old format. It took him about 10 mins to reveal an answer for 1 Million question 15 years ago. I know more breaks etc but I think it took 45 mins to get from 250K to winning 1 Mil.
