Ahh, it was the Monday episode the omnibus didn't show? I knew it was one of them, I just assumed it was the Friday.

The Sunday omnibus didn't start until 1989. And for whatever reason it never included the Friday episode once that started.

Actually it did. From late 1989, the Monday episode was repeated at 3.30pm on a Wednesday, and the Wednesday and Friday episodes were shown as an omnibus on a Sunday.

Most regions dropped the Wednesday afternoon episode at different points during 1990 and 1991 so it was the Monday episode that didn’t get a repeat for several years.
That's weird. Would've thought that would be CITV time.

Not back then. CITV originally started at 4pm, and later 3.55 and 3.50. It didn’t start earlier until the late 90s. Most regions showed Aussie soaps at 3.30.

Most regions stopped the omnibus edition when lunchtime repeats started in 93 or 94. Worth noting the Granada region kept the omnibus aside this for a few years.

I’ve really enjoyed this week’s episodes on ITV3, it’s how Corrie should be, the balance is absolutely perfect and it’s also iconic too.

It’s a good sign ITV3 are sticking with it, hope we certainly get to the end of the 80’s.

September 1993 Is when citv started at 3.30, when 12.10 programmes were moved.

It won't exactly take long for them to get there, we'll probably be there before the end of the summer at the current rate.

Correct, if we see it like this they’re showing 5 weeks worth of episodes in a week, so it should be there in no time.

Will slow down towards the end of 1989, when they went 3 times a week.

ITV3 are for the most part handling these repeats well as well. Usually uncut and with the original front & endcaps (with the exceptions of the few G+ edits that have slipped through the net), no IPPs, no credit squeezes or announcements. Makes them quite a pleasure to watch compared to how many other channels handle old repeats.

Is that not a function divider?

It's just a recognition of the previous divide between 'Snug' and 'Public' bars.

The 'Snug' was where "unaccompanied ladies" went to drink, to prevent them from harassing the men. Very Happy

It must have been a nightmare for the director to have to keep removing it for some shots in the Rovers. No wonder it eventually disappeared.

Both Jack and Ena are making "Ooh-err missus" faces in that picture.

We're getting close to the point where I started watching on Granada Plus (August 1988), not that I can remember massively well seeing them way back in 2001. Interestingly 2001 is further back in the past now than 1988 was when Granada Plus was showing these episodes.
