In typical cheap CBS fashion, the rickety Big Brother US house get a makeover for its first ever Celebrity Big Brother. The designer of this house supposedly went "upscale" by giving everything a gold patina. And of course they fell into the typical Hollywood cliche's. Millions of gold painted camers stuck on the wall. And makeup mirrors placed around the house. And a cheesy makeup lightbulb wall in the main entrance. Whilst some of the furniture is nice it, feels out of place in this shack. They are so cheap with this version they didnt even change the floor in living room from the previous series
Apparently to appease the celebs they will all get separate beds. So far CBS has only released one bedroom pic. It looks decent. The kitchen looks quite nice and so does the "groundbreaking" square table. its always been round. But the big change as usually is a lick of paint and some new furniture.
Also, apparently CBS is covering the backyard. Shock! This is a first, the backyard has always been open air. But recently LA has had horrific weather. Hence the mudslides recently. So this will be weird to have a covered backyard. But last year they had to delay a competition because of the weather, this series is so short they apparently arent taking any chances because the weather has been so bad. Wonder how that will go over. (Weird BBUK wont cover the audience section as it rains so much. At least with some retractable. They make temporary retractable roofs. ehh)

Good thing the worlds best version Big Brother Canada starts in March. (apparently with a brand new completely rebuilt house).

Entrance. Note silly walk of fame-style-star (this show has 3 different logos, the floor being one). One for the titles, one for promo and this floor decal. ugh.
*
The Livingroom - shock! a huge mural of LA. Rolling Eyes
*
The kitchen. Note make-up mirrors above the upper cupboards. Sigh
*
Dining Room with square table and ten chairs. - Note the gold cameras stuck on the walls. The faux stone was used a few series back. No big change there.
*
One of the bedrooms. (notice the ratty ceiling) - Cliche hand bags and shoes on the shelves.

More pics of the 1st Celebrity Big Brother House. Apparently the normal backyard will not be opened during this series. Due to the time it takes them to set up the competition. I think they should really thing about building a separate arena for comps. So they gave them a little alley to sit in with a hotub. The remainder of the space of for competitions. Gonna be noisy. So that was kinda stupid. But of course CBS will not invest more than a couple of hundred dollars on some paint and new sheets each series.

The have released pics of the
HOH Bedroom (apparently now with a California King or 2 queens shoved together), the room looks full of outdoor furniture. Rolling Eyes Remember a champagne bucket makes it "celebrity" Geez.

Mezzine on the 2nd floor outside the HOH bedroom door. Now featuring the pool table indoors. Thats new. Because its normally in the backyard. But its so big that it unusable because its clearly to close to the wall. What a mess.
*
Gym indoors. Thats new. Its upstairs next to the HOH bedroom.
*
He is the little backyard. CBS is so cheap they have changed that hideous blue paneling in the backyard from Series1. Its still the same. its been painted and covered before but Geez this looks bad. Looks like a big packing crate. This is horrible

Julie Chen's partial tour
This is probably the best bathroom they've had in ages. And that aint saying much.
The lounge is nice but waaaaaay to dark for telly. And they have a red carpet bedroom/hallway and hung a stupid car there. Ugh. And another cliche LA bedroom.

Sadly CBS is known for cheapness.

Julie Chen said that she wanted the same season rate for this series but her husband, Les Moonves, the CEO of CBS said no and talk to her agent. Her agent happens to be the brother of Les Moonves.

If any of you are wondering where the studio it’s located at CBS Studio City - Stage 18. It’s in what I’ll call the annex of the main lot - it’s on the other side of the main lot sandwiches between the Los Angeles River and the Tujunga Wash. The stage actually backs against the road. I believe there have been reports that people with loud speakers on the sidewalk have tried to send messages.

Edit I got the location wrong. The house is on the main lot backing the LA River. When looking at the map I mistook Bungalow 18 as Stage 18.

I quite like the small "outdoor" space - first significant layout change they've made and it makes sense for practical purposes considering they'll have much tighter turn arounds when it comes to rigging the competition sets.

Every year people are yelling stuff from across the LA River and the houseguest get put on lockdown. Such a silly location really. Its tight with no room for expansion. YOu can see the small backyard and the dry LA River behind the studio.

The setup and how tight the lot is may be what’s limiting any potential remodel. Plus any builds in Los Angeles have to go through a tough permit process.

This is another reason why CBS needs to dump all the production designers that currently work on Big Brother. ITs horrifying that 9GO! Australia has presented CBBUSA better than the channel of origin (CBS). Of course many of the global versions use the Ch5 Eye (i think they were first, hard to keep track). CBS continues with its boring drab tired presentation. Sadly they know how much people love the show, they wont spend a dime improving the presentation. If aint broke dont fix it.

9Go! Australia Promo

Here is the CBS version. (Geez an old fashioned bellows camera...why?)

Also CBS has this weird practice of creating a promo logo that is in NO way related to the actual programme logo or titles. Its a very odd practice they have been doing for years.

Promo Logo - looks like a coffin - This only seen during trails, promos, adverts or possibly (unlikely) print ads
*
The actual programme logo - shown during the titles and throughout the actual programme

Glad it's not just me! It's so pointless, half the time when they create a half decent promo logo, its let down when you see the actual show logo.

Those CBB USA examples shown above look very tacky.

What I don't get is in the house tour and DVR listings it's referred to as Big Brother: Celebrity Edition.

They dont only create separate promo logos for Big Brother, they also do it for The Amazing Race, Survivior and other signature programs.

Here is the Logo used in the programme

But every year the promo logo is completely different. And typically has nothing to do with the programme logo. Its so annoying. Amazing Race has has 30 series and seems like they had that many programme logos

Its just CBS being annoying. A few years back there was a trend of some big reality shows creating versions of the of their populars programme but featuring families or children or whatever. That naming convention has fallen out of favour because it was so over used. ie Biggest Loser: FAMILY EDITION or Extreme Makeover: HOME EDITION or WHATEVER EDITION. So again I think its a case of the producers being out of touch and always 2 steps behind and out of touch. And then they insist that people set their DVRs for Celebrity Edition. It was the stupidest decision to insist on the name change, because those that still have it in series link will get fresh episodes.

I’ve always wondered if there was a non-Home Edition of Extreme Makeover. That seems to be the only one shown here.
