Interesting article about the problems behind the scenes with the embattled channel.

Easy to forget that UTV Ireland playout came from Havelock House, Belfast.

Feel for the staff there who essentially became the victims of what was essentially a vanity project from UTV management

I watched a bit of Oireachtas TV earlier today just after the One O'Clock News on RTE One HD on Saorview.

There was a RTE News Now style screen in place on Oireachtas TV during a live vote for the North-South Interconnector from Dail Eireann in Dublin. There was a bit of music that I heard off it when the voting was happening.

Does anyone know the name of the music being played on it?

As I am watching coverage of the St Patrick's Festival parade on RTE ONE; there is a new logo for this year's event.

These new graphics have now been applied to to RTE's live coverage of this year's parade in Dublin with relaunched titles & lower third graphics including new lower thirds showing live tweets from the St Patrick's Festival twitter feed.

To give you an example; this is the new logo displayed from it's website.

No special presentation on RTE (though they haven't done anything in years) aside from all CAs being in Irish.

RTE has announced 200 job losses:

This is in addition to the sell-off of part of its Donnybrook campus - at an estimated value of €75m. This money will be invested in much-needed capital and infrastructure work.

As far as I'm aware, parts of RTE's TV Centre are not in good shape. I know that a number of years back there were plans to build a new complex, on a phased basis. Presumably some of the money raised here will go towards new buildings/studios. I know that part of the land being sold off includes the 'Fair City' set. The DG had mentioned that converting that programme to HD was one of the priority items.

Spotted a new RTÉ One ident for Dragons Den tonight. Back in January two idents for Dancing with the Stars were introduced. Good to have a bit more variety and something new. The existing idents have been in use since 2006!

Saw that, very different in that the RTE One animated quite differently to the regular idents. They are promo-ing Dragons Den to death at present.
