The first still looks far too tacky, looks like something out of the titles from 'The Only Way is Essex' or something similar. Still three looks quite nice though, although the 'exploding' effect reminds me of UKTV channel Watch.
A good start on modernising the logo though.

I agree with Aaron on this one. The logo doesn't have to change, it's just using it in modern ways.

I'm in agreement that the eye doesn't habe to change. Channel 4 have a 35 year old logo which still works after all.

The thing is the ATV is basically ugly so the job of modernising it would be more difficult. It wouldn't work if you just brought it back now. It's a bit like Top of the Pops, if it just popped up in the middle of 90s the name would have sounded really dated but because we always grew up with it we never thought anything of it. Whereas Pick of the Pops, which most probably didn't grow up with at least to the same extent, does sound dated and it's only one words difference.

...I actually like ATV's logo. Although, in the age where more companies are designing logos for mobile and computer applications rather than actually caring about TV anymore, it starts to stand out like a sore thumb. The (unused) ATV Midlands design seems to be going with the trend right now.

Nothing to do with the chimes, but this seems very American 90s NBC to me.

They're not even the same notes as the NBC chimes. ATV used chimes in its idents too (and not even the same three notes used in my idents either).

All of ATV's identity was American inspired so it's not the worst thing.

If it came back now it wouldn't work. But had it stayed on air until now I don't think it'd look wrong. As I say, Channel 4 are still using a logo created less than a year after ATV died.
