What theydo is reduce the frame rate from 50fps to 25fps. Lots of producers seem to have the idea in their heads in looks good, but in all reality it looks absoultly vile. It doesn't look vile eveywhere, but in many places it does, and the vicar of dibley was pretty nasty. I hope the producer who decided to use it has their P45 and if there's any episdoes after the new year one, let's hope it's gone.

Was I the only one that noticed that apart from the Filmic effect, the entire thing looked very glossy? I'm not sure how to describe it, it looked like the entire thing was in a dream sequence.

Anyone? Embarassed

The Vicar of Dibley has always been that way - it's a nice touch, I think. Unlike flickervision.

I loved the whole bit where she was drunk!

Yes, I was in hysterics by the end of that scene.

funniest bit of that was where she was ment to walk up the middle carpedted bit but just walked straight across the screen. Then walked back.
SO simple but so so funny!

Though it was normally more so on the location shots than the studio work.

I think that this episode has been in demand for too long now. The last episode of "The Vicar of Dibley" was shown on 1st January 2000.

This worries me actually, because the new Doctor Who series is apparently going to be VT with the same filmic effect. I wonder how it will look. Confused

Personally if a completely new series(I'll include Who in this, as it's been off air as a 'regular' series for about 15 years, so a whole new audience will come to it as a 'fresh' show!), starts as filmic, I don't have a problem.

It's when a 'current' series like 'Emmerdale' or 'Casualty', swop to filmic look, it looks strange.

I admit 'Dibley' has only been off 5 years, but that could seem too recent for some!

What about certain special OFAH episodes?

The regular shows were traditional film / VT, but shows like 'To Hull & Back' & the 2nd Miami episode were shot completely on film.

It looks strange seeing the usual Trotters flat, normally on studio VT, on film IMO!

Notably, both of which went back to normal very quickly though. I hope any future eps of Dibley are too, as it just looked ghastly.

I was hoping te new Dr Who would be Normal VT as I think it's a shame no-one makes drama that way any more. I personally think it is a really effective way to shoot drama as well, it gives the show a feel you can't get with film. Look at the soaps- does anyone think there's anything wrong with the way they look?

Oh god yes. When we saw the Trotter flat on film in Miami Twice, it looked completely different didn't it!?

Not least because we got to see the wall we wouldn't normally see, complete with fireplace IIRC.
