"That was a public information film on behalf of X organisation"
"More details are available on Ceefax page XXX"
"In this week's edition of the Radio Times…"

It's also arguably now rare to hear announcements along the lines of "Due to a strike we are unable to bring you the scheduled programme"

. Yet news OBs still go down much more often.

Often because the uplink dish is not properly aligned. 'Planned' OBs for large scale events, if they are using a sat uplink, will have had far more time to ensure accuracy etc, and often there will be some form of redundancy as a standby link.

I don't recall the word 'strike' ever used ? It was '...owing to industrial action by......'

Yes, I did say "along the lines"! Of course strikes can still happen, such as the NUJ, but they're not usually mentioned in continuity announcements any more.

"So, on behalf of everyone here at BBC Television Centre, we wish you a very good night. Goodnight."

Colour Production - still on new programmes in the mid 1980s.

A <insert regional ITV company of your choice> production for Channel 4.

Still around but getting rarer - contact details of organisations without a URL for its website.

"This is BBC1 North" (with Brian Baines's voice)

"but from everyone here at Television Centre, we wish you a very peaceful night. Goodnight."

You also don't get the same intonation that the old school continuity announcers* all had, that slight pause before the name of the programme, and the slight rolling the presenter's name. "Now the news at 5.40 with [pause] Rrrrrichard Whitmore.

* It seemed to rub off on Phillip Schofield too, especially in the 5.35 link over the globe.

"A final look at the clock"

"01 if you're outside London"

"don't forget to switch off your set and disconnect it from the mains"

Literally the first thing that I thought of when I saw this thread!

'...just about to start over on ITV. Here on Channel 4...'

Indeed. And vice versa.

The 'strike' phrase I always remember is 'Because of the current industrial dispute..."

The National Anthem every night.

Other listings magazines are available (on the RT promos). Is this where the 'other xxxx are available' catchphrase stemmed from?
