The Chase | Beat the Chasers

They don't even pretend to be journalists anymore. Despite there being absolutely no basis to this story at all it's on all the usual suspects now.

Spotted on Twitter - some images of the BTC set for the Spanish version.

As the Tweeter said, it's quite nice how they've taken the original set and made it their own instead of making a hash of it like the Finnish version. Looks like there's a small socially distanced audience in there but can't quite tell.

I don’t really see what your problem with the Finnish set is. It’s smaller but given they must have a smaller space they’ve done a good enough job.

The Spanish set is nice and in keeping with the changes they made made for the regular show.

Guess that means Darragh has replaced Paul for this special at least. Shame, Paul was the best chaser on it.

I wonder if it was filmed with the last series or more recently?

Seems to be more recent if the Menace is there. He was yet to debut on screen when the previous batch of episodes was filmed, so he was omitted on purpose.

Wonder why Darragh has replaced Paul? Not that Darragh shouldn't be there but Paul is easily the best on there. Perhaps when the new series starts they'll alternate who misses shows.

Whilst she's great on the main show Anne seems to answer by far the fewest questions on BTC.

They had a filming session a few weeks ago so quite a quick turnaround. Not totally clear from that that Paul isn't on the celebrity version but it'll be unusual without him if he isn't. The other 5 did a live Q&A with the RadioTimes last week and it seemed that they were trying not to reveal if Darragh was in the episodes and Shaun also suggested that he'd moved seats so they may be sitting in a different order.

Interesting - wonder whether they'd consider changing the format so that all six are on it?

Sounds like Paul isn't on that special, although like I say they might have alternated with them each missing an episode and Paul's might have just been the celeb one. Agree it'll be odd without him and I hope he's not missing from the series.

I heard that they'd changed the set a bit as well so that may look slightly different.

While there is obviously an elephant in the room concerning Paul's apparent absence, it's possible that he was simply unavailable because recording clashed with TV Showdown.

I don't think it is any more than alternating him in. Sounds like they may seat him on the right and shuffle everyone else along accordingly.

Will also mean they can't put together episodes in the edit if they have a different line up per show.
