Last night, I was flicking through the channels with the subtitles mode on and MTV was showing Night Videos and most of the music videos were subtitled!

I didn't know that MTV did this, can anyone tell me what other shows on MTV that include music videos are subtitled and when the subtitles were introduced?

MTV also do some 'signed' programmes during the wee-hours.

However, I haven't seen subtitled progs on MTV, are you sure it wasn't MTV's karaoke programme... Say What?

no..it was definatley a subtitled music video in the middle of 'night videos'.

I saw another subtitled one tonight in' the number one music channel'

i think they are only subtitled during the non stop video shows, not shows like videoclash and select.

MTV have subtitled music videos for well over a month now. Programmes shown late at night, like Tom Green have been subtitled for a long time now. I can't say I've noticed Say What ? in the schedules lately.

I think subtitling on vids depends on whether the vids are supplied with subbies already encoded or not... Sky once said they only showed subbied movies on SBO when the distributor supplied pre-subbied copies... I think the subbie-reader on MTV text is just picking up the subbies already encased in the vids. Actually, funny subtitles story... back when Paramount and Nickelodeon shared a text service, and Renford Rejects on extended Nick was subtitled, I was watching a Romeo & Juliet -inspired episode of Clueless on Paramount, with the subbies for a Romeo & Juliet -inspired episode of the Rejects, which was quite mad...

MTV pay ITFC to subtitle the music videos on their behalf, thus channels such as The Box and PLAYuk do not have any subtitled music videos.
