It could probably do with an extra hour or so now to cover everything, but on the whole I think they got the balance about right. Reviewing each sport in not too much detail meant you sat through it, rather than nipping off to make a cuppa when they talked about cricket.

At least there were almost no "Robinsons" mentions this year...

Thought that the event held together better than many in recent years.

Jake did a much better job than I was expecting - and the interviews he did were much better than Gary's IMO (I think the Ben Ainslie film and interview were probably the best of the night - though I also loved the Rebecca Addlington profile as well) The ramp was a nice idea for the cyclists, but getting Sue and Rebecca to walk down it in heels carrying things looked uncomfortable.

Radio cameras looked shockingly bad - some were crushed, some were sat-up, they all looked soft and some had some very obvious dead pixels. Not up to the normal OK technical standards.

Yep - hence my use of the word "almost" Wink

Last year the branding was MUCH more in your face - but since then the BBC have much tougher rules on event sponsorship - and once the Robinsons deal has finished it won't be renewed/replaced?

Hmm......stealthy editing afoot? Wink

Either that or I really need to go to Specsavers. Cool

I find it interesting, given that this is primarily a forum for discussing television presentation, that no-one has mentioned that the BBC One announcer started his voiceover over the BBC One symbol as normal, but continued introducing the programme over the red carpet arrivals bit that seems to be traditional at the beginning of such events. Phil Vowels I think was the duty announcer. The voiceover itself was backtimed very neatly to the first bit of speech in the programme. I don't recall BBC One doing this before (though doubtless someone will correct me if I'm wrong!) I thought it worked quite well, though maybe Phil could have been a little bit more 'showbiz' in style!

Maybe they'll do something similar on Wednesday night for the Royal Variety Performance!

Suggest a visit to Specsavers - you quoted the "almost". If I'd edited it the almost wouldn't have been there... Confused

I'm sure I've seen it done recently on the Beeb for some ceremony.

Stop using logic to confuse me!! Smile Yes my speed-reading needs slowing down a bit. Either that or I need to lay off the D&B late at night.

Yes - very nicely done - I'm sure it has been done in the very distant past, but can't recall a recent example.
