The new Sony Crime Channel achieved a 0.18% share (and 0.03% for the +1) in it's first week.

That outweighs what they have lost by closing down Sony Channel and cutting True Crime from Freeview and Freesat.

It's still pretty low compared to several other channels on Freeview and Freesat and lower than Sony Movie Channel but should build in time.

Quite decent ratings for the channel's debut month, but I'd say that its LCN (60) on Freeview does hamper its figures to some extent.

It should grow over the next few months as you've said, and in the long term, Sony should be satisfied by stronger ratings throughout their portfolio of channels.

Why would it shut down completely during the Sky EPG reshuffle? Will it not just be moved around? Could we see other smaller channels close also in May then?

I'd wait and see if Sony are really going to cut the cord on Sony Crime 2.

As for other channels closing? It's been known since last November that ITV Encore is already closing this spring, but throughout March or April, I'm betting on a closure announcement from ITV - killing it off before the reshuffle gives Sky back a valuable slot (and subsequently using it for one of their free channels or Sky Two). Any announcement planned on short notice by ITV won't work this time.

But you don't think the upcoming reshuffle will cause some lesser smaller channels to shut other than maybe Sony Crime 2. Could it affect Discoverys smaller channels like DMAX/Shed/H&H in a good/bad way? Ratings are fairly bad for DMAX.

It's a great opportunity for a smaller broadcaster in the UK like Sony to close down a badly performing TV channel and sell their EPG slot to a bigger broadcaster that wants to get a decent slot in the Entertainment genre.
