How's this for wierd? Just then on Sky One, they showed a full clean Granada Plus ident. It was during the break of the second simpsons episode.

How strange!

I suppose Granada Plus must still come from the BSkyB pres area (that great big place with loads of TV screens they used to keep showing on thier promos), being part of Granada Sky Broadcasting.

It's a fully automated playout system (are they still using laserdisks for idents and promos or have they moved to video servers yet?) with people on hand put in the tapes for the shows and to make sure it works OK, but I've never seen any mistakes of that kind ever before on Sky, so it is weird.

Something weird happened on BBC One during a trailer for an opera programme on BBC Four just after Holiday. The 'how to get BBC Four' part started - then the first couple of seconds of the Eastenders titles appeared (with sound), before the trailer carried on as if nothing had happened.

Did anyone capture the G Plus ident from Sky One? I hope someone did. This is one of the best additions to an ident collection you could hope to have.

It has happened a few times before, and I think it is meant to happen. Don't forget the Granada Plus is part of Granada Sky Broadcasting which Sky own a fair bit of.

I don't think it's meant to happen. No one runs idents for trailers. They might use them IN trailers, but I've never seen one where the ident IS the trailer. And all trailers shown during breaks count as commercials, so must be cropped to 14:9 (like real Granada Plus promos are). Just because Sky own part of GSB, I don't see that as a reason why idents for GSB channels would suddenly start being run on Sky One.

I never knew G+ trails were cropped to 14:9, especially as 98% of their content is 4:3, and the trails are actually shown in 4:3 on G+ anyway!

No, trails that are shown as trails are 4:3. But trails that are shown during commercial breaks as *actual commercials* (which are usually general promos about the channel) would be cropped to 14:9. But the ident was shown in 4:3. So it couldn't have been a weird type of GPlus promo because it was shown during the break and so would count as a commercial (i don't think the rules quite allow stations to run trailers bookended by commercials yet, they have to get around it by making the trails count as commercials).
