I like this idea, but I'd like tosee them bring the idents and things more into line with the sort of thing you'd see at a cinema.

One which I do really like is the Fox Searchlight promo frontcap, but that never gets used on any actual films.

It's used on 28 Days Later - I have it on DVD.

Is that a still of the Fox Searchlight promo ident you speak of? Are they phasing out the 20th Century Fox name or something, I mean, we live in the 21st Century now!

Yeah that looks like it.
It starts off behind one of the searchlight beams and then pans across to the logo.

Fox Searchlight isn't replacing 21st Century Fox. Searchlight is their Art House and Foreign film arm.

It's also used on The Full Monty, I think.

I quite imagine we will see the return of the Sky Movies Cinema Building featuring on the adverts, with the curtains shoiwing the screen number...

I remember that look and IMO was a good idea, and in a way the idea of it was a good replacement for Sky Movies and The Movie Channel, the problem was the Sky egg, it just looked out of place, same with the dome thing, it didn't look right, but the cinema look gave it a very nice feel to the movie channels, something I would like to see coming back, they could have something like the Sky Mulitplex and then goes into whatever screen, plus the old name sounded good as well, shame it never got to digital as it was going to be Sky Movies Screen 1-8, but with some minor alterations it could work and to be honest the current look has dated.

BTW Slightly off topic but they never mention Sky Movies Premier now, on trailers for films, it just now "(Whatever) Saturday at 8.00 on Sky Movies", I assume this might be something leading up to the revamp.

That's exactly what I'm on about - they look fantastic. They just need updating a bit.

Cinema frontcaps? Seriously? They are almost all awful, silent things which look like they were created in the 1980's. The Universal ident is about the only one which looks half decent.

Going off topic, but the Dolby Digital idents which get shown in some cinemas are excellent!

Virgin Cinemas used to have a really good ident ("welcome to the world of Virgin Cinemas") which has now been replaced by a boring UGC thing.

But anyway ... the Sky Movies idents I've seen via RV (never on a TV, which is quite a shame) are rather good, and would hate to see them scrapped after only a year or so...

There's some Dolby Digital Idents on some movie DVD's, I think Spiderman has it before it comes on and it looks good, where it goes into the cinema and the title of the movie is; The Sound Of The Future, just a shame I don't have a Dolby 5.1 system, but Johnny English in DTS mode is superb, anyway

Like UGC/Virgin, UCI used to have a really good ident but unfortunately they ditched it a couple of years ago, the ident was a ball in a ring going round to the screen, it did this several times and got bigger and bigger, then it eventually went to the UCI logo, the music they used was great, as it swooshed alot. I've spoken to people about this and it used to scare the s*it out of them, I didn't find it scary. But now it has replaced by a shorter duller version of a zoom into the UCI blue/yellow look, but the music to that is alright, but it'll never beat the clasic.

It seems to suprise me that Carlton Screen Advertising never changes it's ident, as the star fire fork has been in use for a very long time now.

But FYI the Sky Movies Screen 1/2 look was introduced in November 1997 and by September 1998 they had gone, so this look has lasted longer. It'll be a shame to see the premier idents go, but it'll be nice to see what replaces them.
