Of course he's been doing it for more than 12 years, the programme was more or less a transfer from TV-am

Yup, probably even longer as he later on presented the Sunday editions of Good Morning Britian, which eventually spawned off to Frost on Sunday, apparently GMTV did offer him a slot but he declined and took his show to the BBC, where it got the almost same slot as it did on TV-am.

Though I think they are right to call the a day to the show now, let someone else take over, but don't less old Frostie disappear off our screens, he's a legend!

Wasn't there a link with Sky (or BSB who then merged to form BSkyB) that meant the show was shown on both the BBC and then Sky for a while?

I think he had a show on The Now Channel on BSB, I am not sure if it was especially commissioned for BSB or if it had something to do with TV-am, though when that was on in 1990 it had nothing to do with the BBC as he was on ITV at that time.

I think Breakfast will go 7 days a week from 6-9am, then probably a Sunday repeat of MOTD at 9am from next season.
