Let me bring you the latest on this year's xmas ident business:

BBC 1, as most of you already know, is finally axing the ridiculous "children-snowflake with a red sky" ident and replacing it with children dressed up bouncing on christmas puddings - designed by a 10 year old, who I bow to for having more sense than Lorraine Heggessey).

BBC 2 is biting the bullet and letting go of all its christmas idents it has collected since 2001 (The white tree forming from the 2's hand, 2001; The snowman formed by the 2, 2002; The ice cube - yes the ice cube can you still believe!, 2003). This year, the 2 approaches a 2-shaped christmas pudding with a knife and fork and quickly reverses when some cream from on top drops on his head (like "Drip" and possibly with the same audio). Sounds Fantastic.

I regret to inform you that ITV1 is using the sparks around its logo yet again. Channel four will still be showing a christmas tree instead of the 4. It makes you want to cry doesn't it?

Don't worry, I will be able to reveal the BBC idents in the first week in December - including BBC3's and BBC4's aswell!

An interesting theory; sadly a bit wide of the mark, however.

1. How do we know that what you've written isn't a load of codswallop? (except for BBC One, of course)

2. How are you going to cope with the onslaught of Square Eyes for stealing his thread?

And also, how do we know this just isn't another incarnation of Pual Akinbola (AKA sky one unden) pasting something rom another website?

Trust me! I am a controller for BBC Yorksire & Lincolnshire and yesterday me and John Price, my colleague received the national idents from London and made them into regional idents for use in Yorkshire & Lincolnshire (i.e. write Yorks & Lincs in the logo boxes). Fear not those who don't live in this region - I will be presenting the national ones!

At least if what the thread starter has written is a load of twaddle, we won't be long finding out.

By the way, not everyone disliked the BBC ONE child snowflakes.

Riiight. So anyway, if you really are the controller, when you "write the Yorks and Lincs text into the logo boxes" can you please stop degrading the quailty of the idents. The regional ones here look like they've been run over by a bus and the shat on.

Twice.

And what a fantastic grasp of the English language you have, Mr BBCman. Well done.

*REALITY CHECK*

Talk about gullible.

This johnny come lately turns up professing to be a big knob in the world of BBC Yorks and Lincs and you fall at his feet.

Personally I'm not convinced, and just why would anyone at the BBC necessarily know about what ITV / C4 are doing at Christmas ? He's really told us nothing we don't already know here, re: BBC One, just ask your typical Blue Peter viewer.

Until evidence proves otherwise, I'm prepared to hold fire and give him the benefit of the doubt. The poor person's only just arrived, has yet to respond to these cynicisms and the forum's hunting hounds are out for fresh meat already!
