I love Susan Osman on on Satuday's. I think she's great! Can anyone tell me what else she does i.e. during the week? She's only on one day in a week on News 24, so what else, if anything does she do?
Mon-Fri Susan is the main female presenter of Points West, the BBC's regional programme for the west region of Britain, based in Bristol.
Actually she presents Points West Mon to Thu, not on Friday.
I think that Eileen Wheelan was one of the best overnight presenters news 24 had along with Jane Hill. They both suited overnight although it is nice to see Jane at a sociable hour. I believe Eileen now works for RTE in Dublin.

When I wake up from a nightmare at 3am in the morning and put News 24 on, I like to see a well-respected reporter who's going to reassure me that the world isn't going to end .... just yet.
Alastair Yates fits the bill, as did Clarence Mitchell when he had a stint on overnights.
I also think that the ITN News Channel might as well close down after 1am, because they only repeat earlier reports from earlier news bulletins produced for ITV1 and Channels 4 & 5.

As well as presenting UK Today during Breakfast, she also did a short stint at the old Newsroom South East, doing updates.

i am afraid to say i can't stand susan osman she is too pompous and slighty too posh for me, she is too much like a school teacher!
i like martine dennis on the 5 - 6 bit - they should really advertise that - a great way to wake up. But i have to say that i can't resist a bit of rachel mctavish on the itn news channel

Martine joined UK Today when the main 1330 and 1830 editions moved from being simulcasts of News 24, to a standalone programme. She remained as one of the main UK Today presenters until she moved to overnights, when Gwenan Edwards (also from Newsroom South East) took over UK Today presentation duties. Martine came back to present breakfast UK Today bulletins recently, as UK Today's staffing was reduced as people working on the programme moved on to new jobs.
Previously Martine had been presenting Newsroom South East bulletins at Elstree, and worked for BBC East Midlands before this I think.
When i turn on it looks all amateur, the way they do not have wide shots, and they practicly only show the back of the newsroom, which is very untidy, it looks awfull and looks so amateurish.
Do you mean UK Today? I ask this, as UK Today was the only programme not to have wideshots - News 24 have ones whenever they need the two presenters on shot: headlines/links/text messages/top of the hour/half hour/interviews etc etc!!
No, thats not what i mean, i mean it looks from the back drop like they have stuck a very nice studio, i must say, in a very grotty, if not ordinary, office. It looks like I could do it.

UK Today during Breakfast had a wideshot - and occasionally used other shots for live down-the-line interviews.
UK Today at other times came from a single camera CSO/chroma key position in the nationals studio, using the same moving background as Moira has during Breakfast, and as used on News Interactive... With only one camera it is difficult to offer many varied shots - though the shot size (well foreground shot size) did used to change...
