New look Disney Channel?

It certainly looks different... (September 2014)

I can't say I'm an avid watcher of Disney Channel, but when visiting a friend today I noticed they had Disney Channel on for whatever reason, and they appeared to have a bit of a new look. From what I can remember, the 'look' for Disney channel hasn't been tweaked that much in recent years, but it looks like they were previously running some programme-specific idents.

However, during my brief viewing today I noticed they had 'proper' idents, as in it was some teenagers doing something and the Disney channel logo (now the Disney logo with the word channel underneath, looks like the Mickey mouse ears have gone). I can't remember them having proper idents before, always thought they've been animations of the logo or programme-specific. Also appeared to be some now promo-endboards and the like, and I even saw a menu. The logo has moved to the top left and is enormous.

Apologies if this has been mentioned in a megathread already (although not that many apologies as clearly it's a candidate for splitting).

EDIT: Took a quick Google and it looks like it's been about for a few months, this site has more. Includes a few videos which include what looks like an programme-specific ident from the last set that's been retrofitted to suit the new one. The generic idents look quite nice IMO.

Had a look there and you're right they've given it a change and ditched the mickey mouse ears for the disney logo with "channel" underneath.

Yes, this happened a while ago, the logo looks nicer now unboxed, but it is still big on screen. They've now moved it to the top left of the screen on all channels, and due to their size and being full colour, are very distracting and cover too much of the picture. Still, i'm sure they have a good reason for doing that... Rolling Eyes

The Mickey Mouse ears are still there - as the dot of the I in Disney.

It seemed like we were heading in the right direction with dogs becoming smaller, moving to the bottom of the screen and moving into the 16:9 frame, but things seem to slowly be moving back. Cartoon Network a few months ago moved their logo back to the top of the screen, and disney seem to have followed for some very strange reason. They've left Disney XD at the bottom, but this is also massive and sits in the 4:3 frame. Maybe someone at Disney UK needs some new glasses if they are struggling to see them.

As for the relaunch itself, as we discussed before it launched over here it's nice that they've had an update, though I'm not a fan of the font used for the 'Channel' wording. As for the rest of the presentation, it doesn't appear to have changed much, but just updated with the new logo.

Had talked about them before.......in International Pres thread.

A nice evolution, and good use of the dot on the i becoming the mouse icon. I'm not sure on the font for the word 'channel' though.

Here's a look at how they've appeared in the US. Along with other bits on continuity.

In other related news - as a fan of boy meets world, I'm looking forward to seeing girl meets world.

Top left? Some videos show me that some versions still place their watermark on down left.

(Warning: Contains a real spoiler of an episode of certain TV series.)

That is also a lot smaller than the uk version it would seem.
