New BBC Local Radio jingles

I wonder who the people that say 'play Radio Somewhere' are? They're obviously all from the area the station broadcasts to due to the accents, but wonder if they're members of the public or someone at the station who sounds the part

I might be going mad but I swear a few months back someone shared an image or link somewhere with all the new English BBC LR station logos, with 'Radio' in lowercase and looking, well... rubbish!

Today I saw something from Radio Suffolk where the logo was 'RADIO SUFFOLK' again, and initially thought that'd made an uncharacteristic about turn. However, I've just been back through the thread and can't find a trace of the lowercase logos! Is this what insanity looks like?!

The current LR logos are an improvement, but it's a shame the output in London is too cliquey while the rest of them have gone down the route of pop and prattle. The BBC should have a distinctive USP being in many cases the only local provider where the commercial sector has gone quasi-national, but there's nothing there that would make me retune from the slick national brands that Global provide.

And of course BBC Essex couldn't rebrand as BBC Radio Essex because it would cause confusion with the commercial Radio Essex.

The tautological logo for "BBC Radio CWR" (hmm... what does that final R stand for?!) is at odds with the fact that there is of course no "Radio" uttered in the middle of the on-air name. I think that similar is true for some others too, e.g. it's verbally just "BBC Hereford & Worcester" on air IIRC. And I think that the on-air word order of the Beds/Herts/Bucks station (uniquely, and sensibly) moves the word to the end: "BBC Three Counties Radio" IIRC.

Clearly, the idea is for the logos to include an intact "BBC Radio" element regardless of what name is heard on air. Essex being the only exception due to the aforementioned clash with a commercial station's name.

They missed their opportunity there, it was originally not called that because the ILR was called Essex Radio, there was quite a gap between that rebranding and Radio Essex launching.

They're not very imaginative in Essex are they?

Meanwhile what launched in 1970 as BBC Radio Teesside, was renamed in 1974 as BBC Radio Cleveland, then the area's ILR station launched as Radio Tees in 1975, that became TFM in 1988, and the Beeb adopted the name BBC Tees in 2007, which now seems to have become BBC Radio Tees ?

They did exactly the same thing with the national radio logos that were introduced in 2007, but in the years that followed the word 'Radio' was gradually added into most of the station names, such as BBC 6 Music officially becoming BBC Radio 6 Music in 2011, which I still think is a bit clunky compared to the original name. However they still have a logo that reads 'BBC Radio Asian Network' when the name is still, sensibly, just BBC Asian Network.

And of course there was once BBC7 which became BBC Radio 4 Extra.
