Maybe BBC ONE in the top left and BBC THREE/CHOICE in the top right? Although no, that would look awful!

BBC NEWS 24 should get the box too. They could show the full News 24 logo (with the big 24 overlaid with BBC NEWS) instead of what is now effectively the 'old' logo from the flags era. A cream backround, naturally.

Has anyone else noticed that on that picture on the BBC Four Web site it has the logo on the bottom left - I don't know about you but on all of the BBC Two posters I've seen the logo has been on the bottom right, like on the idents. I think this probably means that the Four logo will be on the bottom left! I knew this would happen as soon as I saw the new Two idents - leaves flexibility for the other BBC channel logo positions.
I wondered how long it would be before someone pointed that out...  It's so easy to read too much into things like this - really, it's only a picture on a website!  Following that logic, BBC1's box will appear in a top corner - which of course would be absurd (which is probably why they'll do it... Very Happy).

I really think BBC1, 2 and 4 will all use the bottom right hand corner - it would make the cut from, say, a BBC2 trailer to a BBC4 trailer look far more appealing if the box is the same size in the same corner.  (I'm not including BBC3 in any of this, since there's little chance of it launching this century).

Confirmed - switched onto BBC2 at 7.00, to find out that the BBC FOUR box is definitely black, and will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, as with BBC2. Unfortunately I only caught a split second of the end of the trailer or caption or whatever it was - but it was definitely for BBC FOUR!

i saw the jesse owens preparing for the 1936 olympics 'bbc four, everybody needs a place to think' promo on bbc one before the news.

btw. i actually like the black box they're using for four, and i think it confirms (to me anyway) that all boxes will have white writing, so i dont think n24 will be a cream box ... thats if n24 adopts a box at all.

i wonder if theyre going to stop playing bbc knowledge trailers on bbc 1, bbc 2, bbc choice, n24 from now on - to avoid confusion?

I think BBC News 24 will adopt boxes for their promos but not for the idents/titles etc. They might use one for the countdown too. It'd be stupid if they didn't as, after all, it is a BBC channel and all the others will be going this way.

Same goes for BBC Parliament.

Just remembered though, CBBC and CBeebies don't do they? So newsy channels might not.

Oh well.....

They'll never get the word 'PARLIAMENT' into a little box like that and keep it legible! I think the box idea is for BBC1/2/3/4 only.

Well,
  • The World Today is known as TWT
  • London News is now LDN
  • someone suggested Midlands Today could go to MDT
  • so they could shorten BBC PARLIAMENT to BBC PMT??

Why not just 'PARL'?

If that was a reply to my post, then I was only joking.

If it wasn't, then what a good idea. 'BBC Parl' - wonder why they didn't think of that originally. Wink

They want to give it publicity for the launch - the internet wasn't around when BBC1 and 2 launched (duh!) And also knowlege has a web site so it'll have to take over.
