Its about time Meridian Tonight got a new look! Do you reckon Southampton and Newbury will get a newl look soon??

Is there still a 'This is Meridian Tonight' at the beginning?

The Sotton edition gets a new look in February - could be monday.

Now you are all going to call me dumb, but I have Meridian, and I still get the awful set. Is there more than 1 meridian?

No need to call you dumb - perfectly good question! Yes, there's 3 - Maidstone (the one I receive), Southampton (the version also on Sky) and Newbury.

Wouldn't surprise me if Southampton was only a week behind with the new look....

And yes, they still have the swooping in shot and 'THIS IS MERIDIAN TONIGHT' voiceover at the start.

Yes - Meridian has three different news regions, and three different news programmes. They are based at Southampton, Newbury and Maidstone.

There are strong rumours that Granada want to shut the Newbury studio and move production for the Newbury region to Southampton.

(Like fellow GMG franchise, Anglia, they would make two different regional news programmes in the same studio centre. )

If Meridian Southampton relaunches, and the West region (Newbury) goes then we will find out when there is the new look. But where will Lunchtime Live come from?

Must be Maidstones turn to new look first. If memory saves me right when I lived in the Maidstone region the current look was first launched in Southampton and Maidstone got it about 2 weeks later.

Also noticed that Southampton are still showing WSI as the weather supplier and Met Office in the Maidstone region !.

Well IF the Meridian North programme moves studio from Newbury to a second News studio in Southampton I guess they could squeeze the Lunchtime Live set in there, or do it from yet another studio at Southampton - I believe it is quite a big centre - Question Time comes from a studio there sometimes.

No, it won't go in the Southampton News studio, there isn't space really - especially with the new desk. By the way Newbury is the West region, strange isn't it.
