Apart from Night & Day , British soaps tend to be done in a "real" style, so things like flashbacks, incidental music etc, are no-go..

And what happenned to Night & Day?

Brookside also changed the filming style (obviously there was the nasty film look, but flashbacks and music came in too) and the show bombed soon afterwards. Obviously the change in style wasn't the only reason for Brookie's demise, but it didn't help.

What was the jingle like on those idents, was it regular or something different?
(Out of curiosity)

No music, just maya talking about Dev, and then her just sitting there before the announcer speaks, obviously about Corrie, before introducing the show.

Ooo they really do seem to be PUSHING this Mad Maya edition of Corrie. Break bumper into the break, end bumper at the end (!) , then the full 30 second promotion and then the long version of the Mad Maya ident!

YAY! LONG IDENT :-

I tend not to watch Corrie on Monday's as I feel they are too contrived to end on a cliffhanger at 20:02 for it all to be resolved in the 20:30 episode! The stories are usually poor (well poorer than Eastenders) and I dont think having multiple episodes on the same night is a good idea for ANY soap! I will give this one a try as it is set in 'real-time' ala 24 and also the special effects have cost a lot of money! Lets hope they are better than the storm over at Emmerdale last year - where some fireworks and a wind-machine were drafted in to create the 'storm' Also a chimney fell through The Woolpack aswell!

Emmerdale uses incidental music, but it's hard to notice, they used it in the big storm, they used it when Turner and Steph were on the clif thingy, and used it tonight when steph was being interviewed, it was low and hard to hear, but it was there.

Not more royalties to Massive Attack and Liz Fraser for the gorgeous "Teardrop" then? Smile

Hmmmm, my thoughts were totally right about the 19:30 episode being totally contrived! That episode might not have even been there - nothing actually happened!

And there did infact seem to be some incidental music at the end before a short promo of what was still to come!

I hated that promo, and they were using the exactly the same incidental music that Emmerdale is obsessed with.

I quite liked that clip at the end, with the words flashing up on screen with those explosions, plus the music.

It was very unusual and not the sort of thing you'd expect from Corrie at all - but it worked well.

Oh I don't know. I liked the little journey Frankie took tonight as she finally seemed to make a positive impression on the locals. Funny stuff in the cafe, too.

I'm glad. I do like Danny and Frankie. Bradley Walsh has surprised me. I really didn't think he would be a good addition, but I was wrong.

I absolutely adorer Frankie and Danny, but I'm afraid that Jamie and Warren have to go. It's only a matter of time...

Yes, I did enjoy the episode, especially the Vera/Frankie stuff, but I was expecting more drama from the Mad Maya storyline! Still beats Eastenders any day!
