Far be it from me to judge something before I've seen it, but does anyone else think this Junior Eurovision is going to be awful?

I know she hosted the the UK selection show, but the promo for the final features Tara Palmer Tomkinson. Please don't say she's going to be presenting the final, for all of Europe to see?

Yeah, unfortunately i've heard on the forum that it's going to be the dream team partbership of Tara Palmer Tompkinson and Mark Durden-Smith (who must have the worst agent in the world).

No, it's some Danish duo. Hopefully I'll remember to watch it just to cringe at little kids singing their hearts out to us. It should, by all accounts, be so cringeworthy!

Mark & Tara might be doing the commentary then, which is another reason not to watch.

Ah yes, forgot about commentary. That's will make it even more cringeworthy then. Great.

The real Eurovision is kitsch and camp and loved by gay men, europe-wide. All the fun of the political voting, the terrible songs, Terry Wogan's funny commenatry, the general naffness of it all. All of this will be lacking in a Kids version, so what's the point?

You're forgetting that most Europeans take Euroision very seriously indeed. Tomorrow's kids contest will be a television event in Bosnia-Herzegovina. And presumeably, ITV don't have too much to lose by showing what the BBC didn't want. Unless cute little Tom Morley wins of course.

Actually, I think that ITV was the driving force behind Junior Eurovision, so it wasn't offered to the BBC in the first place.

It's sounds terrible enough to be an ITV orginal idea. Design Wars on a Saturday night, anyone?

Did you see the qualifier programme on ITV1? It reminds me of Coronation Street's 'Ro-Zi' - Uzlot, Starlite... the fun of the adult Eurovision is that it's awfully good, whereas this will be awfully awful.

Having said that, I will be watching it... Very Happy

Really? I didn't know that. As I understood it, the BBC declined Junior Eurovision.

IIRC, that is correct.

In regards to this programme... how bad can it be - we're always asking for more 'glitzy, live, variety' type shows and the Eurovision songs certainly class as 'variety' - most countries have a distinct type of music.
