ITV TOON refers to ITV2's Newcastle United matches - they're called the Toon Army. That's because Toon is the geordie pronounciation of Town, which means Newcastle.

ITV Liverpool doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Does anyone remember ice skating on UK Gold about 10 years ago? (Possibly extra Beeb winter Olympics coverage?)
When they had the Winter Olympics back in 1998 I remember that the BBC produced a daily show that was shown on UK Gold at 2pm, even included the BBC Sport ident too. Though when there was no ITV2, the games were shown on Granada Plus, though at one point it was branded as Men and Motors and on Cartlon Select. Though if a game was more important in one region, then that region would usually opt out, though this hasn't been done for about a couple of years now, Granada did it a few times years ago, it just got annoying when Elton Welsby presented every game.
Though I remember in Early 2003, when they couldn't show a UEFA CL game on ITV1 as they had one the night before, they were showing a match on ITV2, they couldn't show it on ITV News due to the Iraq War, so they had to show it on Plus, for the last time I believe, even had all of the ITV graphics and what have you.
It's getting a bit boring with the ITV1 Champions League coverage now - Arsenal or Man Utd every week. Chelsea and Liverpool are always on ITV2 - and Celtic never get a look in.
