I don't feel like I should be watching ads on Merit.

Off topic kind of but seems RXTV, which was great for tracking developments such as this, has gone. RXTVLog is now diverting to SportsMole and RXTVInfo just crashes - it hadn't been updated for about a month.

They're showing proper adverts as well as the Sky ones, it almost feels like a normal channel when you watch it now!

Makes it easier for Sky to demonstrate to Ofcom that it is a "real" channel and not just an accessory to a channel number swap, I suppose. Might even keep viewers who stumble across it keep watching in a funny sort of way; the Merit animation looks like a breakdown to anyone unfamiliar with it, at least the adverts give the impression that something follows!

I don't think OFCOM care - it's a Freeview rule, not an OFCOM one AFAIK.

Just Google searched RXTVLog, and the first result was this:
Quote:
twitter.com › rxtvlog
RXTV has moved (@rxtvlog) | Twitter
The latest Tweets from RXTV has moved (@rxtvlog): "RXTV is now tweeting @RXTV_info and is now under new management. See you over there!"
But clicking the link results in "account has been deleted".
https://twitter.com/rxtvlog
And the second result is

RXTV Info (@RXTV_info) | Twitter
RXTV Info‏ @RXTV_info Jun 30. More. Copy link to Tweet; Embed Tweet. RXTV log is now RXTV Info. Join us at http://www.rxtvinfo.com. 9 replies 3 retweets 25 ...

But clicking that says "these tweets are protected"

Facebook page also gone.

They've well and truly cleaned house.

Thanks, Brekkie -- yes my mistake, it's a Digital UK (Freeview) requirement for channel number trading, nothing to do with Ofcom.

Given how long it's been on air, I'm starting to wonder if CCXTV misjudged market appetite for a fairly attractive LCN (unlikely) or at least how they went about it, timings-wise.

When did it launch? Could the pandemic have caught them out? Lockdown certainly wasn't the best time to launch a new channel, when ad revenues are down.

It launched on the 29th July 2020. But you are right, lockdown is a terrible time to launch a new channel.

I thought CCXTV launched in April?

Mockah probably thought I was talking about Merit, but yes, I was asking about CCXTV, the context is in Steve's post directly before mine. And if it launched in April, I'm not surprised they had no takers.
