ITV 1 and ITV 2 logos

I've got an idea, <dream mode> they could make it into its own little programme, showing all of the balloons in full, the balloon falling to ground, then fading to it flying over TV centre with the caption 'The BBC Balloon 1997 - 200#' and then fading out </dream mode> - I wish, but it would be good!

the final ident a Balloon flying over TVC with the sun setting and a big fanfare and greg dyke and all the staff in the windows of TVC Waving, and in the balloon is terry wogan, and they get rid of him too.

I haven't watched ITV on Saturday morning for ages. But the last time I did, as I recall Carlton (Central) were in the habit of not introducing CD:UK with an ident, nor would it be immediately preceeded by a programme promotion. The final advert of the break would fade to black, then we'd see the Tizer sponsorship sequence. This made it seem as if it were a programme that had already commenced coming back from a commercial break.

This is not so silly as it sounds, after all CD:UK is just an extention SM:TV Live, the only difference being a more specific focus (i.e. music) rather than general entertainment.

So, unless Carlton (Central) have since started introducing CD:UK properly, I don't think the midlands will see the ITV1 style ident untill AFTER MIDDAY!

It's a shame they're getting rid of the balloons, I kind of like them. I hated them at first though, but they grew on me. As for ITV1 and ITV2, I think ITV2 could do with some new idents - the current set are awful. Washing machines? Hair gel? I vote for the blue and yellow logo, like ITV1.

And as for Carlton, I hope they don't change them. I like the ones we've got in HTV land, and it would be a bit silly to change them so soon after they were introduced.

Yeah, I know what you mean about CD:UK Mr Ovation, GMG stations have only recently started showing the ident before it. Before it was as you describe for Carlton.

I hope we do! The current ones were good at first, but now on Carlton Central they show the eye ident over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again...

I agree. I hated them at first, but now I quite like them.

I do hope that when the balloons go, BBC do a special 'farewell' ident for them, and not just a bog standard ident.

Maybe they'll see the spoof balloon finale ident that was on TV Home. I liked it Can anyone remember who made it?

Yorkshire have had an ident before CD:UK for ages. I think they need to do this as it is actually a separate programme, it gets repeated on ITV2 and late night ITV1.

I saw the begining of CDUK a few weeks ago on Carlton Central and it was introduced with a Ident.
