Thanks very much Pickle, very interesting. Because it's funded by advertising as well as the license fee, I assume it shows less adverts than most commercial channels?

Yeah, but only slightly less. You do notice that when they're showing American imports on N2 (which often make up the entire prime time schedule) they run programmes slightly earlier than on the half-hour because there are less ads, as opposed to Sky and C4, who seem to fill a half-hour slot quite easily.

Just to correct the earlier comment about RoI channels on VHF - Band I is no longer used - and only RTE One and Network 2 are available on Band III and UHF.

TV3 and TG4 are UHF only.

For those of you that can recieve RTE, some one used the wrong RTE one slides on Network 2 this evening for both Neigbours and Home and away.

Anyone heard any rumours on Network two been rebranded back to RTE 2 in september??????

Nothing more except it could go back to RTÉ 2, and there's a possibility of RTÉ switching both channels to 16:9 as they've had new broadcast suites installed at Montrose (RTÉ's studios in Donnybrook)...
