i dont know if you noticed but there were three main big studios at granada as u cn see on the virtual tour thing, but besides that are there any more, like where does the regional news come from? surely it would have made sense to group all the studios together by the scenery dock!

The studio Soapstar Superchef was in was the medium studio but I dont know what number it was. It wasnt the large one they use for Soapstar Superstar and Stars in Their Eyes.

I know Studio One is used for Corrie, no idea about Granada Reports.

Granada Reports is Studio 2, and it isn't on the 3SixtyMedia website, as it's only used by Granada and probably has been for sometime or so now.

Doesn't anyone else remember when they auctioned off Studio 2 Air in a bottle and sold it on eBay?

Yep, and they got about £1000 for it, pretty impressive for a regional show.

I remember, it was a blue bottle and it had a picture of Lucy Meacock and Tony Morris on the front.

Another thing I've noticed is they've not had a new set since January 2006 which must be some kind of record for Granada Reports!

It was something like that, I remember there was also an Interactive episode of Cracker in the same area I believe.

The 'Bonded Warehouse' was good to walk around, it was a rather big building that also housed Baker Street and God knows what else.

It's a shame it closed, although I think it's an ever greater shame that the complex has been shut for 7 Years now and little has been done about it, other than a minor expansion to the Coronation Street set.

Yeah that is a shame. Do they use the Bonded Warehouse for anything at the moment?

AFAIK No, but when Granada have made intentions on relocation then the bonded warehouse albeit a converted one was always top choice, probably only home to ITV Granada's Regional Output, but these plans have never got off the ground and the way things are looking I don't think this will be happening at all.

Arn't ITV bosses mulling over moving the present Manchester studios to the new site where BBC is going, in Salford - this would be just a case of building a new Coronation Street set (at least Coronation Street would then be in its native City of Salford rather than being filmed in Manchester!!!!), but everything else will already be in place with thank to the Beeb!!!!!!!

I do undertsnad that there are quite a few construction companies wanting the land which ITV presently own (i.e. Granada), and the price is pretty high.

ITV - unused land - move somewhere cheaper - make a killing on selling the land they already own - shareholders happy at making even more money!!!!!!!!

Yes, it's home to a lot of financey/admin stype stuff. Payroll/HR for the whole of ITV is based in Manchester...

I think Studio 2 is fairly big - on the 50th anniversary of What The Papers Say they did some behind the scenes stuff and you could see it's filmed in the same studio as Granada Reports (which a few years back used to have a much bigger set than now). I'd guess the Thursday night politics/soccer stuff might be done there too...
