Nothing particularly against tortoises, but I can't say I was too happy today to find that George has had at least as much, and possibly more, press on his passing than Caron Keating.

I'm forced to wonder whether we have our values a bit wrong in this country.
Do you mean by Blue Peter or by the media in general. I'd probably agree on Blue Peter but I'm not sure by the media in general there were lots of people upset and shocked by her death especially when nobody knew she had cancer.

However, with it being a tortoise it's a lot more visual as you bury it in the garden, but obviously this cannot happen with a person.

Well it can, there's nothing in law to stop someone being buried in any garden, especially not the Blue Peter garden (although what Land Securities Trillium would have to say about it I have no idea)

Hope that doesn't sound too morbid, but with TV how visual something is makes a big difference...

And of course George was a current member of the Blue Peter team, whereas very few of the current BP viewers remember Caron Keating

I would say that we do value animals highly in this country but I wouldn't say more than human life; I heard about Caron's death all over the Internet and on all major TV news programmes but the only place I have heard about George's death is on here so I do not agree with that statement.

Um, it was in the tabloids; it's on BBC News Online; it's been on News 24... Where have you been all day? Smile

According to this article in yesterday's Metro, George died sometime last week...

It was a great show last night; George being buried (and Liz looking particularly affected by it!), a repeat of the Eurovision dressing-up-and-singing feature, and an item on Salvador Dali complete with "melted" versions of the regular BP studio props. Blue Peter rocks.

The current Blue Peter crew has been their a while. During my youth the show would have a new presenter every year, but the last new presenter, Liz Barker, has been there since 2000 (?), as she replaced Katy Hill who went off to do Live and Kicking (2000-2001).
