Virgin Media Ireland are pathetic in their "coverage" if I can use that word - online all they have was a 7 minute video and that was it.
The amount of content RTE provided online was fantastic, and yes Gay was a RTE man, but come one, when the BBC News Online website, ITV News and Sky News websites - three non Irish broadcasters are providing a better online coverage of the death of Gay Byrne than the Irish VM channel - that is an utter disgrace!
VM boosts they do more live news than RTE - well sorry, their content is appalling today.

The Six O'Clock Show also did a tribute to Gay with extracts of an interview he did on the show in 2015, along with discussions with their guests.

The Late Late Show for Gay Byrne's tribute on RTÉ One tomorrow night will last for 90 minutes from 9:35pm until 11:05pm.
I had a skim through Twitter tonight. I didn't see any comments about Gay Byrne's passing from Pat Kenny or Tommy Tiernan on there yet. I would say at this point that both of them may be invited guests on The Late Late Show tribute for the late Gay Byrne on RTÉ One tomorrow night. Both of them are deep & personal friends with Gay Byrne down through the years. Pat Kenny is obviously a former presenter of the show & Tommy Tiernan had the lucky break of beginning his career as a comedian on the show thanks to Gay Byrne.
I think most of the guests who are turning up to be part of the studio audience will be good friends & acquaintances from RTÉ including some surviving friends from Granada & the BBC. There could be some members of the audience who had been helped from Gay Byrne's shows on TV & radio down through the years. I will also say that parts of Studio 4 will have some large photographs of Gay Byrne in celebration of his career on the show. And the titles for tomorrow night may include a montage of Gay Byrne in the titles.
Am I making some sense about what could be happening for tomorrow night?
