The American-French-Canadian hate triangle has been going on for years and will probably never stop. The fact remains that as much as the American media slates the French and Canadians, how many every day Americans will actually think to themselves “ooo, that wine is French…I don’t think I’ll be buying that” Country boycotts are a fools errand. Also remember (in the interests of ‘Balance’), the French and Canadian media are fairly horrendous in their portrayal of Americans.

I also have an issue with those who say Fox is ‘Misleading’ viewers with the slogan fair and balanced. Who in the right mind watches Fox News and thinks to themselves, I’m seeing truly balanced news here? Answer; No one!. It’s a paradox that no one is drawn in by. The left wing would have you believe however that a great chunk of Americans are being brainwashed by this channel. Give me a break…

I don't agree with that. Of course it's not "brainwashing", but I struggle to come up with any other reason why Fox News runs continuous promos declaring that...

ONLY ONE network provides fair and balanced news
ONLY ONE network sweeps the ratings every day 365 days a year
ONLY ONE network is so powerful
ONLY ONE network brings in more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined

They are portraying themselves as a mighty news channel that is so mighty it must be pure fact. For a news channel to actually say outright that it's the most powerful and influential network, it IS trying to draw people in on the pretence that nobody else will provide a proper, fair news service.

If by 'brainwashed' you mean that they have been told and continue to believe something which is not true and suits the arguments of one side, they have been brainwashed, Snu.

People whose news comes primarily from Fox are much more likely to believe that WMD have been found, Saddam Hussein was responsible from 9/11, Iraqis were flying the jets into the WTC and there was a substantive link between Al-Qeada and the Iraqi government. All of it, of course, is not true.

Viewers across all the networks were highly misinformed, but FNC was the guiltiest by far.

I am stunned that the viewers of FNC are quite happy being lied to and spun so constantly. Yes, it happens at every media outlet, but not quite like this.

I have had the pleasure of watching 'Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism' and the 1hr 15 mins it is on is enlightening.

Please let us hope Sky News are not sent down this path.

I don't think this is likely to happen, Roger Murdoch just tells people what they want to hear. I guess if Murdoch was really interested in politics he could be one of the world's most dangerous people. (compare him to Berlusconi)

As for Rupert Murdoch though, who knows!

I also doubt Sky will go down that route, not quickly anyway - they just wouldn't get away with it. I think if Fox News were more significantly followed in the UK then OFCOM *would* have been compelled to do something about culling them from British airwaves when complaints were received.
