US sports giant EPSN premiered new flashy graphics in conjunction with the launch of its all digital HDTV set and technology for its ground breaking sports news programme SPORTSCENTRE. Take a look a couple of screen shots. I think that is this style is highly appropriate for Sports programming. Its energetic, flashy, masculine and testosterone fueled.

WELL IF YOU WATCH IT THEN YOU WILL SEE HOW ITS ENERGETIC AND MASCULINE AS COMPARED WITH THE FLOWING BLUE AND SIMPLISTIC SKYSPORTS NEWS PACKAGE.

Please stop shouting.

I'm just wondering how a graphic can be "testosterone fuelled".

Most people call it a figure of speech. Goodness. Stop nitpicking.

I call it marketing-speak, which I dislike intensely!

The thing is, they're all extremely American - it just wouldn't suit UK TV. They're 3D, in your face, fussy and metallic, and by UK design standards, this looks quite old-fashioned. I for one don't like these, and in general, I don't like American TV graphics - I find many of them shouty and overstated.

Well actually UK graphics are quite old fashioned. Most UK broadcasters cant afford to keep up with the latest technology so they adopted the less expensive minimalist look. Of course they are in your face its meant to be a sports broadcast not a serious newscast.

Meaningless phrases, invented by marketeers which try and blind people with nonsense.

See adverts for beauty products for more information.

A graphic cannot be "testosterone fuelled". It's er, balls.

Why does a sports broadcast have to be "in your face"?
