AFAIR, more of the Undergound is actually overground than underground!

Though what baffles me is that on Monday it would have got about 11-13 Million, but they suffered a 5m drop in the space of 24 hours? Either that or the public have finally realised it's sh*t.

To be fair, ratings were down across all channels because of the hot weather, as is always the case.

But surely the weather factor would have been apparent on all channels thus Emmerdale should have performed equally as poor as Eastenders?

The weather - true, but essentially an excuse.

The reason EastEnders gets good ratings on Monday is due to being between the two editions of Corrie really. Unfortunately for the BBC, EastEnders is a show watched out of habit, rather than choice.

But it's not just there BBC1 is suffering - last night viewing figures between 7-10pm were around just the 2m mark and believed to be the worst performance on BBC1 since the 1998 World Cup match of England v Argentina.

Apparently, Eastenders is going Live from August, with Louise Berridge still as Exec Producer and a number of Cast members axed.

How will 'going live' with Eastenders work?

Great idea - axe EastEnders and bring in the Gordon the Gopher show!

To be fair, around three years ago Corrie was going through a very poor patch while EastEnders was steaming ahead, so a few changes and it can be saved. The only problem with EastEnders is there is alot of work to do, and the unrealistic stories of recent months make it difficult to fix. Maybe axing Leslie Grantham and saying everything from Dirty Den's return on was part of Sharon's dream is the best idea.

EastEnders has already been axed in New Zealand (in favour of Hollyoaks) and the USA (by the BBC!!!).

If it did go, how do you think the BBC should move on? A few possibilities:
- New soap: risky, it would usually be safer to revamp the existing show, but maybe a clean slate would be best.
- Televise the Archers: either in some form of nightly slot, or say air it on Radio 4 on weekdays, with a Television omnibus on Sunday nights.
- Move Doctors to primetime. A fixed nightly slot would be best. I'd suggest putting it at 6pm and moving the Six o'clock News to 7pm, but that is easier said than done! (I think they should consider Doctors as a Simpsons replacement - completely different show, but I think it could do quite well at 6pm on BBC2).
- 5 Nights, 5 Dramas. A series of year-round shows every weeknight at 8pm. They could already move Casualty and Merseybeat into the slot, and add a couple more, maybe a Teen drama (a UK OC), in an aim to offer dramas that cater for different audiences.

"ALIVE AND KICKING "
Would be more approprite as it the writers need the kicking to liven them up.
