Well it had to involve celebs didn't it. Heaven forbid use normal people on television.
I noticed in The Sun newspaper today about a new programme, starting on April 3rd, called The Door. Although there wasn't much detail in the article, it has six 'celebrities' doings tasks, behind a door presumably, and it's presenter is Amanda Holden albeit with Chris Tarrant as well. Could this be how The Crystal Maze revival rumour started?

That's just the society we now live in, take Ant & Dec's new show for example, I dare say that would have got higher ratings and better reviews if it used celebrities rather than 'real' people. Generally people just aren't interested in 'real' people on shows like this anymore... All Star Family Fortunes... All Star Mr & Mrs etc.

I don't think it's society, more ITV's logic. Otherwise people wouldn't obsess over Deal or No Deal and Come Dine With Me. And on BBC One you have shows like Total Wipeout.
It's a shame Push the Button isn't getting better ratings, as it's probably the best weekend product ITV's made in years.

Come Dine With Me and Deal or No Deal (and its worth chucking in The Coach Trip too) all have cult followings of audiences around 2m. The celebrity version of Come Dine With Me rates much better. Non-celeb versions of those shows just aren't that viable for ITV. Total Wipeout is an exception but thats probably more to do with lack of competition (ratings tank when ITV show something worth watching) and because of how comical it is.

I'm not sure you can call them "cult followings" - they're just "audiences".
Its not as if they're bad or unusual shows (that you'd usually associate with a "cult" following).

Just seen the promo. I'll go with celebrity contestants ok, but already I'd call it Return of The Crystal Maze, ditch Amanda and Chris in favour of Marcus Brigstock or someone.

Come Dine With Me definitely has a cult following- its one of More4s most watched shows even when it goes out in the middle of Saturday afternoon.

Why replace two pillocks with another pillock?

That wasn't the issue.
