What, hardly anyone has Sky? That doesn't sound right.

Well, depends if you count 10 million subscribers as 'hardly anyone'.

Exactly, Sky alone has lots of viewers, let alone the other platforms Nick is available on. It simply isn't true that "hardly anyone can receive Nickelodeon, even though it's not on Freeview.

On Sky, you do require the Kids channels pack, which living in a kid-less house, I don’t have. I’m sure there will be others in a similar situation.

There is nothing to stop you having the kids channel pack if you really wanted to. The fact you live in a kid-less house is irrelevant.

Good news:

This is all well & good, but what about The Crystal Maze UK on Channel 4?? Half of the series from last year has yet to air, along with 3 episodes from the 2017 revived series. Hardly anyone can receive Nickelodeon to tune in to watch the American version.

To be honest if they were going to show the 3 episodes from 2017 they would’ve done it in the last few months. Maybe they’re not up to standard or something.

The remaining episodes from last year could be airing this year still, maybe Channel 4 pushed them back in case they couldn’t get new content out in October on Fridays at 8pm.

Maybe they’ll end up on Challenge in a few years, they have a history of showing episodes many years later that were never broadcast originally. A 2006 episode of Deal or No Deal got its premiere on the channel in 2013, and I think a few later episodes of 100% also appeared on there to the point some assumed they were brand new episodes.

It was the same with the 2007 series of Supermarket Sweep. ITV only broadcast the start of the series, the remainder got premiered on Challenge a few years later.

The Hogmanay episode of Wheel of Fortune got its first national airing on Challenge too, originally it was only shown in Scotland.

A few later episodes of Blankety Blank were first aired on Challenge as well. One or two featuring celebrities who had since passed away.

I hadn't realised the pulled DOND episode had eventually been aired on Challenge. I remember it being replaced the first time due to a bereavement with the contestant in question, and I assumed at the time they'd show it at the end of the series, and when that didn't happen, it would just stay on the C4 shelf forever.

I can understand the DOND issue, and not wanting to shove it out on a limb at the end of the series.
Of course, there was a narative running through the programme with contesants waiting their turn to take on the banker, and little 'in jokes' developed during that time - so there would have to be some minor editing to remove some of the more obvious ones.

Also, you would have to start the show with some sort of message along the lines of 'heres an episode we have yet to show you, which were removed from the schedules due to unforseen circumstances at the time' - which, as it was a death - draws even more atttention to the unfortunate events of the time.

Better to take it out of the original run, leave it on the shelf, and let another broadcaster show it at a much later date, without any reference to it not being seen on Channel 4.

Here’s the original continuity announcement from November 2006 explaining the missing episode of DOND (plus adverts), the slot was filled by a repeat episode. It appeared on Challenge in April 2013 when they reached the same era of the show.

At the end of the episode a brief white-on-black caption was broadcast, saying something like “In memory of (name), relative of (contestant name) who was meant to play today. Our thoughts are with you”.

With Jamie & Jimmy's Friday Night Feast postponed by Channel 4, will this provide ample opportunity for the 2nd half of The Crystal Maze & three unaired episodes to be shown in the 8pm Friday slot in the run up to Christmas?

Probably not.

I think if the three 2017 episodes seeing the light of day on Channel 4 was going to happen it would have happened by now.

Its far more likely they're going to just spontaneously turn up one day on another network lumped in with the rest of the other episodes.
