Well, there needs to be something big for BGT week, there always is. And I can't see anything else in the making right now.

Were you watching with subtitles enabled? The white bar (normally just a square dot but a longer bar in recent episodes) appears during the titles, end credits and EOP captions and is part of the subtitles. It used to appear regularly on ITV and Channel 4 - I think it was a way of showing Oracle and/or the playout gallery that the subtitles were playing properly and their timing was correct.
Oww could have been left on tbh yeah
I’ve noticed the same “white bar” on the new ITV episodes when watching with subtitles on. Quite intrusive!
If they are using re-edited original Oracle subtitles the white bar is probably a subtitle removed which used to read something like:
“The next subtitled programme on ITV will be World In Action, tonight at 8pm”.

I don’t think so, in this case. The same bar appears in the current ITV episodes. I think it’s a timing thing, as mentioned upthread - though the square dot was less protruding.

Could it be that it was encoded with some slightly obscure teletext character sequence which isn't being handled properly by the translation to DVB subtitling? There were a few odd ones in the spec like "Hold graphics" which were workarounds for the some of the limitations of teletext, like needing a space or two to change colours.

Rosie and Aiden tonight filming directly across the canal from the Coronation Street studio. You can see the distinctive stripy wall in the background!

I notice they kept the shot of Aiden lower than usual to avoid the big ITV logos on top!

Avoiding showing the "Coronation Street" sign too. That would be funny to try and explain in the show's universe

Such a soap cliche. For once I wish a soap would just let the serial killer be caught and take it through to trial - it's a long time actually since any soap had a decent trial in it and that could be far more interesting than yet another big killer stunt, and indeed potentially open up a further avenue of the storyline, especially if they're found not guilty.
