I’ve liked how over Wednesday’s and the first of Thursday’s ITV3 episodes are set throughout the same evening. It really gave time for the main story of Alma’s kidnap to pad out and to be told without dragging itself out to be boring.

I liked that as well. Brian Park is already making a big impact to the episodes we are currently seeing like the start of Kevin and Natalie's affair. They did very little with Sally and Kevin for around a decade so they needed to spice it all up a bit.

It looks like the 60th anniversary specials on ITV3 at 10pm will be the episode or episodes aired closest to the 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th and 50th anniversaries plus the first episode from 1960 gets another airing. This must be the first major anniversary it hasn't aired on the main channel, im surprised they didnt give it an airing at 8.30pm on the 9th December following the hour long episode of Corrie. it would have been all Corrie from 7.30pm-10pm.

I thought the break bumpers featuring old opening credits at the start of every ad break during tonight's episode was a really nice touch.
DJ Dave, Soupnzi and chevron gave kudos

Is tonight the first time in a long while that EastEnders and Corrie have been on the same time?

Think it happened a few months back on a Friday. Surprised they didn't move it tonight as airing Vicar of Dibley at 8pm would have enabled them to premiere their lockdown ep at 8.30pm as those switching over for EastEnders were tuning in.

These were missing from the programme on the ITV Hun, unless they were shown as part of the adverts following the regular break bumpers?

Though of historical interest, I'm quite glad they didn't show the first episode on ITV again, as you say it's been shown on pretty much every anniversary.

I think what they're doing this week on ITV3 is much more interesting than just showing the first one again, which is nothing like the current Corrie or indeed really like the classic Corrie most viewers remember. I'm far more interested in the episodes from 1970 and 1980, the 1980 episodes seem particularly interesting because that's the era with Stan and Hilda, Len Fairclough, Eddie Yeats, Annie Walker, Elsie Tanner and dozens of other famous and popular characters (I know Ena Sharples had left a few months earlier) and I think that's what people want to see on these anniversaries.

Of course, the 1970 episode is in black and white, because it's from the middle of the ITV Colour Strike.

They broadcast a rate-dog-eared copy of Episode 1 last night on ITV3. Must have misplaced the cleaned up copy they broadcast for the 50th.

Well, the version shown on the 50th Anniversary had scenes cut out and the closing theme re-edited very clumsily, with lots of dead air at the end of the credits. Hopefully the dog-eared copy was at least intact.

There’s an unofficial copy of last night’s episode on YouTube (pitched and played about with in an attempt to get around the copyright police), and you can just about glimpse some of the break bumpers there. I hope a better upload of just the bumpers is forthcoming.

According to Corriepedia, the first episode has been repeated 5 times on ITV. In 2000 it was shown at 7pm on 8th December and in 2010 at 8pm on Monday 6th December. And then last night 7th December on ITV3. It never seems to be repeated on the actual anniversary day. Its also been released on 5 video/DVD formats between 1982-2010.

The 1970 episode I believe hadn't been repeated or on video/dvd so it was great to see that episode. IThe two episodes from 1980 that will air from 10pm tonight have I think only been screened on Granada Plus since the original transmission.
