Classic E4 pres

I come across this link, ( it was one of Brekkie post from 2008)

I never know E4 uploaded alot of its old idents Did anyone else view the videos? I wonder if it would have filled in some of the gaps about when some of them first appeared?

The BBC also uploaded a good chunk of its idents to its website at around the same time (BBC One definitely did when they were using the full length ones of what they have now) so it wasn't unique to E4 at that time. In fact I seem to recall many of the bigger broadcasters did this at the time, then for reason stopped it.

Its s shame there still not around, Its a bit of a mess knowing when what idents were used where,

Some of the idents like 2002 are just plain weird.

What was the name of the "voice of E4" before Peter Dickson?

Patrick Allen. Dickson adopted his style when he took over E4 and he's now probably more famous for his delivery than Allen was. It's easy to forget he was the voiceover on Bruce's Price Is Right as his style was strikingly different back then.

Patrick Allen also starred as Narrator / Captain Star in TUGS. He was also the narrator of the "nuclear warning" part of Two Tribes by Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

He also did a couple of series of Family Fortunes, and again sounds totally different to the voice people assosiate him with.

He did loads of things. Perhaps most notoriously he was the voice of the (unused) Protect and Survive nuclear outbreak advice PIFs.
