Does anyone know what the newsreaders are doing?

The usual.

and no doubt it'll be the same old usual faces taking part as well.

Do we know who Terry's co-presenter is this year?

Its Tess Daly and Alesha Dixon apparently Rolling Eyes

I never thought I'd get nostalgic over Fearne Cotton, but she was far better than Tess Daly last year IIRC.

The BBC HD blog suggests this year's appeal night will be in HD.

I'd rather Christine Bleakley presented it.

Exactly, the whole point of Children in Need [and Comic Relief] is to have a bit of a harmless laugh in order to raise money for charity... not sit and critisise it. Heaven forbid praising something that's trying to do some good in the world. Rolling Eyes

It's simple enough, stick your hands in your pockets, buy a few bits of merch from Boots, Build-A-Bear, Greggs... or even your local BBC department, and then once you've made a difference yourselves, THEN maybe you can get away with a little grumble. Laughing

I like the idea of the digital bandana - looks very interesting yet another way to donate... but I wonder if it rotates or amimates - more info via http://www.pudseybandana.co.uk/ and the main site http://www.bbc.co.uk/cin

I used to enjoy watching Children in Need year after year - but I must admit that in the last few years things have really gone downhill. It's all for a good cause and gets decent ratings, yes... but the entertainment, presentation and general shoddiness of the entire show in recent times has put me off. The studio audience didn't look particularly thrilled last year IIRC.
I would agree with that too - I find after the news it tends to go down hill anyway ... however the introduction until the news is great viewing and yes it is for a great cause so please donate at http://www.bbc.co.uk/cin ! Very Happy

No - the point of Children in Need this year is "do something different" according to the slogan (which they used last year IIRC), but every year it's the same old people doing the same old things - and unlike Comic Relief apart from those on the BBC payroll, most people just turn up and do their day job, rather than something different. Ridiculous too having an extra 2-hour concert the Thursday before as well

And whilst I'm moaning, a shame Mr Wogan won't put the charity before him - he's declared today he's basically continue with Children in Need until he is dead.

This is not about the charity aspect. Whilst I appreciate its all for a good cause, and I'm sure we all do, this is still a TV presentation forum and it will get discussed.

Well I watch it from 7pm - midnight each year, then the rest on video Saturday morning / afternoon. I jolly well hope CIN 2009 in 2 weeks' time will be light years better than the unwatchable garbage we had to endure for RND 2009 back in March. Hopefully with a bit of luck, there'll be plenty of pop acts, maybe a bit of Strictly Come Dancing, and the cast of EastEnders / newsreaders doing something.
