Channel 4+1

We apologise but we're not able to show the scheduled programme here on Channel 4 +1 (January 2010)

I've not seen this caption before. Channel 4 seem to have been very good at sorting out the rights to show programmes an hour later on Channel 4+1 (unlike ITV).

Has anyone else seen this caption before?

I actually saw it during Channel 4 Racing. That would be weird enough in itself because Channel 4 have never had problems showing the racing on Channel 4+1 in the past AFAIK. What makes it weirder is that the caption was used to cover up the first ad break and not the programme itself. Channel 4+1 were and still are showing the racing as I write. They went to the first ad break, played out the sponsor sting and then this caption came up for the duration of the ad break. The next thing that appeared was a promo for Terry Wogan's Perfect Recall and then back to the programme.

The missing ad break did not have subtitles on Channel 4+1. The caption was not animated.

They have just gone to the second ad break and the adverts are playing out as normal.

Was there something special about the first ad break? Did it play out correctly on Channel 4 (would have been at about 2 O'clock)?

When the racing is on, I've seen a couple of breaks taken up with a single advert with live odds for the upcoming race, which an hour later would probably be against the rules to show.

I would guess something screwed up with their first ad break as the only time I've known them to do something like that is when trying to censor something they'd rather not screen again by conveniently losing the picture.

Why has my post been deleted? Are we in the business of censoring now?

I was about to apologise to Brekkie as I'd read somebody's recommendation to read the time (and didn't have time to post). I was too hasty to judge you Brekkie, sorry - and sorry to everyone else for who this definitely won't make sense for now.

Rather than starting a new thread, my other half was catching up with Fridays Hollyoaks today on Sky Plus and half way through the programme there was a 4 DOG at the very top left hand corner of the screen which was very faint but with the text "SLOT 1" in white directly underneath. It must be stayed on for most of the second half duration of Hollyoaks.

Sadly I couldn't get a screengrab as my other half deleted the programme from the planner before I could get all anoraky in secret! Laughing

ITV2+1 have also had ad breaks with the caption, but not the programme itself. The last show I'm sure was When Fearne Met Paris.

It's for when they have 'live' adverts such as betting odds, eBay items, voting phone numbers (if the original line has closed) and adverts which are given free air time (such as some of the charity adverts).

The eBay adverts are coming back apparently too...

I guess the regulations are different for adverts but wouldn't a 'Information may not be correct on +1 channels' graphic on the actual advert suffice? Channel 4 Racing on Channel 4+1 already broadcasts information on races that have already been run, so it seems odd that viewers would need protecting from the same thing when broadcast as an advert.
