Personally I think the last couple of Brookie episodes have been poor compared to earlier efforts this year. I'm beginning to think that Brookside was axed a few weeks ago and replaced with the spin-off "Jimmy Corkhill Show".

Although I understand Brookie has a strong history in discussing social issues, they've been laying it on a bit thick in the last couple of weeks.

Who was it Jimmy clobbered and put in the boot of the car with the words "that's one way to deal with scum" before going on to challenge Michaelson?

It was Michaelson, the scene of Jimmy battering him and putting him in the boot was all in Jimmys head.

The last two episodes look great by the way - i'd urge all old Brookie fans who went off it somtime after 1997 to watch them.

Tonight's episode has been another good one, not as violent or as funny as last week's, but it has its moments. It was a good wedding and a good hitting to Michaelson. Whenever he talks to his daughter about drugs, you just feel like shouting; YOU'RE ONE TO TALK! Plus being hit by Father Christmas is a classic line.

Though it'll be intresting to see how it ends next week. It's going to be great to see good old Barry Grant back.

I haven't watched it for a while, but made a point of staying up last night to see the penultimate episode. Shame about the scheduling, but there we go...

However, it was nice to see Brookie back to it's strong, gritty self. Some excellent storylines (although I had to fill some of the gaps in my knowledge with a bit of guesswork!)

Really looking forward to next week's finalé... bring it on!!

I can give my one word reason for why I think Brookie went down the pan-

FILMIC

I don't think it was that, in fact I remember reading that one episode, shortly before the filmic look began, got just 400,000 viewers.

The mixture of long, sensational storylines and mad scheduling by Channel 4 has killed it off, IMO.

It wasn't just the weeknight showings that were messed about, the decision to move the omnibus to 13:00 on Tuesdays so they could show old films on Saturday was a bit strange to say the least, and probably wiped out most of the audience.

Its a shame that its just got so good again, so close to the end.

It's Brookies 21st Birthday aswell today.

I havent seen Brookside for quite a few weeks now, its all C4's fault due to their 11.45pm slot what do they expect. However I will make sure I see it this week since its the final ever episode.

I dont think I will get the video since I dont like Tim and Steve who I understand the video is about. Are there any other video's planned after this one?

Phil Redmond has said there will be more Brookie DVD and Videos released, if Unfinished Business sells over 50,000 copies.

It'll be released in the shops aswell (Nov 10th). I think the original plan was to make it available through the Brookie website only.

I cant imagine they will make video's of Brookie that regular - people arnt going to want to pay to watch the show all the time are they, and why should they make money out of Brookie being axed.

It looks like Phil Redmond will be making an appearance in the last episode:

Aren't they the two best reasons for watching? Wink

Not long to go now - must be a spoiler for viewers on S4C who will no doubt hear lots about the final episode on GMTV tomorrow - they don't get the last episode until Thursday night, I believe?
