I've been watching bid-up.tv a lot( than i should be anyway!). There's one thing I want to know, quite a lot they refer to someone called "Bob the warehouse" and I was wondering, who is he? is he a real person? and has he ever been seen on bid-up.tv before?.

Thanks for your time

Are bid-up (sit-up) in financial trouble?

Almost all of the Auctioneers throughout the 'Warhouse Clearance Event' keep 'making the joke' when people aren't bidding that they need people to phone in so they can keep their jobs.

Each auctioneer has said this at least twice in every hour. Is there any truth behind it - or is it a rubbish, highly over used joke?

I was under the impresssion they were doing remarkably well- I think they expect to lose money on some items, but make a hell of a lot on other (largely due to somewhat generous guide prices).

sit-up.tv are doing very well indeed.
price-drop.tv was the most successful TV shopping channel launch to date.
The amount of sales revenue bid-up made during 2002 was amazing, and we're expecting even better results for last year.
It's all about salesmanship- they're just trying to add tension and pressurise bidders into bidding up.
It's also rare for bid-up to make any loss on their stuff. They buy things in extremely cheaply - they are basically the television equivalent of Matalan and TK Maxx - as in yes, having 'big' brands, but last season styles.

Unfortunately I am slightly adicted to watching Bid-Up, particularly when Andy Hogson (?) is on - I think he plays up his Alan Partridgeisms to great comic effect. And did anyone else witness Peter Simon appearing to crack up on air a few months back?

I bought some pretty good towels from them... Embarassed

Didn't realise you were that involved with the channel Barney Boo! You make it sound like you work for them. The tension thing is all very well but I think that heartbeat thing sounds a bit naff. But then since when was shopping tv not naff.

I agree he does make me laugh. When I'm channel hopping I have been known to stay with it when the presenters are on good form.

Lets not forget our very own Greggles on price drop. He is LIVE right now, by the way. Doing some nice work with a 3.1 megapixel camera.

I wonder if he'd go and give Adam Freeman a nudge to send that picture he promised.

Well, I have an interest in it as entertaining...and I have a *cough* financial interest in the company.

Sorry if they mentioned it on air... but where has price-drop.tv's price drop button gone? (You know that giant phallic shaped thing they quite annoyingly press at the start of every drop while saying "Lets Price Drop!" and waving their arms about)

Has it been broken, or have they finally worked out that they don't have the same viewer age as CBeebies?
