For me, I do like Scotland Today (but not watched it in ages, hope its not changed from what I’m thinking of....do they still do that 2 o’clock c**p?) oh and Granada TV is not to bad too.
London Tonight's set is not too bad, but the old one was much better.

Oh...and Anglia News from what I've seen on Sky is c**p. I just hate that Yellow Square in the VERY top Left hand corner. At least in Granada's CSO studio, the bit where the picture related to the story goes is in a decent position and not so far at the top of the screen.

Do all the regions still use the Dogs? as i am sure Granada has dropped thier's?

I was thinking about Dogs yesterday. Flicking about on Sky the Regions which still have a Dog are, Anglia, Meridian, London, Border, ITV West (well it was on for 2 minutes before fading out), Yorkshire (Maybe still have the one with the 4 blocks but they never had the standard one with the programme name above).

Granada dropped theirs after less than a month (well at least they started with 1, WestCountry never did, Nor Central is I'm thinking right.

I like the Calendar studio, they didn't do anything drastic to it just changed the colour to blue and yellow from red & a purpleish colour, it looks better now than before the relaunch

Meridian News (south) has a good set, nice and simple but i think when they move into their new studios in Fareham, they will (i hope) have a simmilar style to the National News but on a smaller scale.
Lots of CSO, a 'local' theatre of news, then it will look the dogs balls!!

uh-huh, try to emulate an established set design, but using a far smaller budget, a lot less staff and replace content such as "bomb explodes in jerusalem" with "southampton woman takes council to court". that'll really work.

nowt wrong with regional news, but putting it in national news clothing is like putting lipstick on a dog, its unnecessary, and it just wont work.

You're right about Central never having one, and Yorkshire have only ever had just the four squares (and more often than not they haven't lined up with the squares on the astons) but I haven't seen Calendar in a few weeks to know if they're still there.

Central South's set isn't virtual.

That's what I was thinking.

SCOTLAND TODAY ADDICT must have bad eyesight, or an overactive imagination, or something... Confused

I like the look of the regional news sets, except the ones where CSO is used too much. As i said in another thread, i'd prefer a plasma screen to a blue screen, know what i'm saying?

Whilst we're on the subject, what do we think of this studio:

I think this set is a prime example of impecunity being the mother of ingenuity don't you think?
I think it is a good set for the size of the region it serves Very Happy

I like Border TV's set, it is a lot better than some of the regional sets that were ruined by the ITV merger.

The difference between Border and other stations is that they got a new set for the rebrand and so it was able to be designed from the ground up to fit in with the corporate look. But all the other stations had to make do with reworkings of their existing sets, some of the conversions work better than others.

JEZ - I thought the same studio was used for BOTH HTV News and ITV Wales News? They look VERY similar to me with the HTV logo being replaced with an ITV Wales logo - not much of a studio change at all

Moving to the other half of the HTV empire, when did HTV West last get a totally new set as opposed to light revisions being made to the existing one?

From looking at clips, the present set seems to date all the way back to the days of 'The West Tonight' - which I think was introduced in around 1996? Is it really 8 years old? And presumably as well as having pretty much the oldest run in modern times, it's surely also got to hold the record for the highest number of minor facelifts, if I'm right, 'ITV West News' marked the third time the set had undergone a new coat of paint under the guise of a 'new look'.
