As this topic titles clearly says:
Might I wrest your attention from the world of newsreading totally, and remind people of this person, who is better than any national newsreader?

If anyone associated with Top Gear is reading this, can I meet Jeremy, Richard and James please? Thanks......

Better in what respect? Better at being right-wing and bigoted, or better at constantly wearing jeans that are clearly too small for him?

Nope - despite those, he still has a lot of 'inner child' in him which I find rather endearing. He is never afraid to speak his mind, has a great sense of humour, remains true to his values and doesn't try to be someone he isn't. I might disagree with some of his views on certain subjects but he stands up for Britain, shown when he reviewed the new Rolls-Royce Phantom. He drove it on the Humber Bridge, remarking that the vast majority of the bridge was designed, constructed and made using british products. He pointed out that a lot of the Rolls Royce components and designers were 'Mainland European' in origin, and that this diminished the Britishness of it. He pointed out that compared with the Humber Bridge, the Britishness of the Rolls was 'pathetic'. He quite rightly remarked that the grounding of Concorde was in his words 'a giant leap back for mankind'. during a light-hearted look at car companies' Christmas cards, he praised Skoda's inclusion of the word 'Christmas' where other car companies did not incorporate this, calling it 'mincing PC rubbish'.
He has a very persuasive tone of argument and has a good writing style. I for one wouldn't like him to be altered by image consultants or Trinny and Susannah. He is a true character on television. Would that people in News 24 Towers could be slightly like Jeremy.......

Sorry Katherine, but all that 'Britishness' stuff just comes across as thinly-veiled Xenophobia to me when it comes from him. Yes, he's not afraid to express his opinion, but personally I'd be happier if he kept a lot of his 'Sun Reader' comments to himself.
I guess we're probably not going to agree on this one, but I really think he's not much better than the Gary Bushells and Richard Littlejohns of this world... and I'd be quite happy for News 24 presenters to be nothing like him - as I'm sure would Ofcom bearing in mind rules about news impartiality!
