Last night at closedown on BBC-2 (1.48am Sunday 19th September) recognition was given to the anniversary of 30-years of Ceefax. Here is a transcript of the closedown announcement which was given over the BBC-2 "Bounce" logo.
'And so to bed for BBC-2. Well, a quick snooze really. We're back at 2am with BBC Learning Zone. In the meantime, did you know it was thirty years this week since the launch of Ceefax? So from me Dean Lydiate and the late team here at BBC Television Centre we'll leave you with those familiar pages and some music.... and goodnight!'

Shame I missed that last night - fell asleep sometime after Red Dwarf and then managed to wake up at about 2:30 to switch the TV off!

Good old Dean! Showing his anoraky side there - of course the actual date Ceefax came along was 23rd September 1974, but of course the BBC being the boring people they are nowadays have chosen to ignore this anniversary as News 24 is scheduled for that day. But it may get a mention on Page 101 - they did it a few years ago (but on New Year's Day)....

Ceefax has gone downhill in the last few years with not much mention of big things such as Christmas - even though its plastered all over the programme promotions.... luckily I don't think its because of political correctness (yet!)

Bring back our Christmas Ceefax graphics!

New Year's Day being a slow news day, so a pre-written feature was probably welcome Wink

Note that the Ident (Bounce 1) is cut off leaving just the BBC TWO box on screen just before "and goodnight".

Probably deliberate on this occasion, but not the first time the announcer has out-talked the idents.

If only they'd kept them at 50 seconds!
