Just found this on Diginews.org - fairly long and boring peice, but something right in the middle of the paragraph stuck me as interesting..

'The first half of the year will be dominated by the launch of new digital services CBBC and CBeebies; BBC Four and, subject to government approval, BBC Three,' said Sophie Turner Laing, Acting Director of Television. 'They will mark a big change for viewers and a significant investment for the BBC, giving us the chance to show new ideas and talent. Other developments include modernising the BBC One brand working more creatively and collaboratively with other divisions, and a raft of interactive services produced by new media to support our digital programming.

So looks like that could be the first official quote that the balloons could be going...

It's nothing new that the balloons are going - the controller of BBC One hates them - thinks they are every that is wrong with the BBC - slow, no personality etc etc .... she's been trying to get rid of them since she started the job ... just wheels of the BBC run rather slowly!

NickyS, i dont suppose you could cast us some light on what the New BBC ONE brand will be, i have heard it is like BBC TWO but different personality
a '1' rather than a '2'
and different music and colour scheme
