Tech. I think you should just chill a little. I can take care out here on the web. I think you seem to be a bit over protective.
If they were clamping down. Why would they recommend a TV site. I saw in one of these posts that the bbc actaully told a person to goto one of these sites.
And correct me if i'm wrong but if they were clamping down we would see nearly all of the sites here closed even them that aren't open yet.
B.B. My department have taken 2 web site owners to court over copyrighted material within the past month. I don't know the full circumstances, but all I am doing is letting you know
There's always one who has to spoil everybodies fun
Anyone agree. This a classic case here. This person
'from Beeb'
says I shouldn't put the clocks on. If that's the case I may as well stop all the flash re-creations I'm doing.
Right guys, lets get this straight before we end up arguing.
1: I did not want to cause friction, I was mearly giving friendly advice.
2: Before I posted my original entry, BB did not mention anything about displaying a (C)
3: All I said was that they are getting funny about web sites who do not give credit where credit is due. Take that whichever way you want
Have your fun, no-one is stopping you having your fun, but be sensible about it. I would hate to see anyone getting into trouble through what they enjoy.
Erm, Big Brother, what exactly is your problem here? He pointed out it was a bit of friendly advice and you've taken it to heart and starting being immature with 'he's spoiling my fun'?
I think the argument here is passing off BBC stuff as not theirs.
For example, ident websites offer a collection of historical, accurate clips whereas creating a screensaver using the BBC logo is slightly 'dodgy' as it's your screensaver but passing it off (consciously or not) as a BBC screensaver. This also applies for anything you may promote as 'BBC --' implying it's an official product/website.
Just remember and more importantly, respect the copyright warnings.

I think that would be appropriate enough. But if the BBC didn't want the info etc on your site, they'd ask you (by e mail) to take it down.
So don't worry mate! They ask you before force you!

I'm no legal expert, but I honestly think you would be better off
not
putting (C) tv.hedgehog.online.
It's just a suggestion, but you could put 'Screensaver recreation produced by ... based upon BBC material. All trademarks and copyright of the original owner are acknowledged.'
Long-winded, I know, but perhaps better. It is, though, a difficult area to get exactly right!

Fanks!
As SubZero has said - Where can you get this screensaver? If its available could someone please email it to me?
People. Settle. It was late so I wasn't paying much attention to what I was typing. Asa.
When my site opens I will have all copyright notices from the BBC and anyother Television channels.
Plus. All the savers will come with
'The BBC Logo and Clock etc. are the Copyright of the British Broadcasting Corporation. This re-creation is copyright of Hedgehog Online Media Group for 'tv' and should not be re-distrubuted. All screensavers should be downloaded directly from our site at http://tv.hedgehogonline.com'
I have also contacted the BBC to make them aware and am waiting for a reply.
