Trouble is, one of the idents features cartoon versions of BBC celebrities. If any of them aren't around next year, then it can't be reused.

No ident yet after midnight. They really should've advertised that Bryan Adams thing and the fireworks as a single programme - they blended into each other seamlessly.

Well its possible that the new idents and graphics they make for 2016 will feature the same character.

Final Christmas Day ratings show Mrs Browns Boys the winner at 9.49 million - almost level with 2014 (Mrs Brown again at 9.69 million) but still a significant drop from 2013 when all the major shows (Mrs Brown, Still Open All Hours and the New Years Day ep of Sherlock) all got 11-12 million. Although 2013's highest rated show over the Christmas season, and indeed the entire year, was the New Year Fireworks (13.52 mill) thanks to the torrential rain around that time keeping many indoors.

Wallace and Gromit in 2008 remains the last truly massive Christmas mega-hit, 16.15 million which only a handful of other shows have reached in the last decade.

Mrs Brown's Boys was only the winner on BBC One - Downton Abbey ended up with 10.92 million viewers.
