Glad to see the BBC Confusion Department hasn't been left underfunded, this year. They've done a grand job.
By calling the bulletin just 'BBC World News' (i.e. what the rest of them are called) you're going to leave viewers wondering why the hell they're in a different studio.
Idiots.
We wondered how they were going to promote this too. The content of the trail does try and say it's different (which it is), and focused at Europe. But it does come across as a little daft.
It's simular to TWT, which isn't technically TWT on BBC World, it's just news, WBR and Sport in europe peak, and that is how it was trailed.
It will of course make perfect sense to BBC 4 when that is launched.
By the way, Parental Body, Woman has agreed to run another Great Debate room next week. I keep telling her that the room won't work unless she links it into some sort of programme, like on Five Live or Talking Point on the World Service - she is so stubborn and will not have any of it. Woman is so ****
at her job - like you, lol. She sent me 6 emails during the course of the evening asking what I thought about this and what I thought about that. You BBC people are very trying. I don't like this consultation business, think I might go back to being a pleb - also like you, lol.
What was her title again? She called herself 'Communities Editor for BBC New Media'. Impressive, eh?

Thanx to Michael Daventry, i have uploaded an mp3 of the trailer...
Here it is
By calling the bulletin just 'BBC World News' (i.e. what the rest of them are called) you're going to leave viewers wondering why the hell they're in a different studio.
The bulletins on BBC World are called BBC NEWS since the revamp of BBC World in 2000. Back in the 'flags era' 1997-2000 they were called BBC WORLD NEWS (coming up captions) and WORLD NEWS (news titles).
On the titles yes, but the presenters say you are watching BBC World News.
I think BBC World viewers are going to be baffled as to why they get to see a totally different set at nine(CET), why couldn't BBC Four have broadcast a BBC World bulletin without breaks??
I think it's about time for BBC World to get itself together. Yeah sure they already show some great coverage but I feel there is no life to the channel just a continous drift of one preseneter led bullitains and half hour back programs. It's almost as boring as the ITN News channel the only thing that saves it is a good graphics and reporter package.
Why doesn't BBC World begin european and world opt outs as it does for Asia and Asia Business Reports. Giving more europen related programs as I honselty think that their current approach is too broad based and trying ot get news from everywhere in the world is just one confusing mess.
Sure I find myself watching the channel here at home but thats only really for the world today and soon to come news with George Allagiah. If the BBC want to compete with the other networks and raise their audiences even higher they should dget there act together with a newer studio, two presenter format and start showing more relevent local proframing as i'm sure viewers in asia would appreciate some un biased asian news and viewers in europe, some un biased euopean news.
Bring Some More Life Into the channel, keep it serious but a bit more life.
I agree with what you're saying Dolby, but it all comes down to money! BBC World, as far as I'm aware have had budget cuts, so will probablly not have the money to do anything like you're saying. However, I would like to see News 24 getting its act together. I'm sick of the same thing again and again! But still glad it's there:)

I agree with you too about News 24 Gary as they need a bit of a 'Half Life' upgrade like the fags era got. This means they update the studio, titles and stings (People have been begging for a new sting) and so this would complete it all.
I'm sure BBC World can make some effort out of the points i've made as they do have subscription from around the world and they have enough to spend on a new european bullitain!

BBC World is already regionally versioned. From TVC in London there are already 6 streams being sent out across the globe. Other regional variations are added downstream of these feeds. Some carry simple varients - like alternative subs, or different language streams. Others are tailored streams - like the very thing you mentioned - a stream in Europe.
Along side the core feed, the European tailored feed has different programmes, ads and trails but with the same solid news feed.
There are times of the day when different headlines are sent to America while the core feed carries other material, all routed via the Presentation suite. In different parts of the world (like the sub Asia region) there are opted parts of the schedule with different programmes and business programmes.
The main difference with CNN is that the BBC do it rather better... the opt out points are less visable and tend not to go wrong as often. Rather more care is taken by BBC Presentation with the way the channel looks... I've always hated that clunky way in which CNN and CNBC don't seem to care what it looks like.
Although CNN do much more regional programming, including versioned news feeds - you've got to ask what people tuning into a 24 worldwide News network are wanting to watch - might it be 24 hour news with a worldwide perspective? National news is done rather well by each country and tends to be just that, national news - in Australia you'd be lucky to see an oversees story on the news.
For one - I'd love to have access to BBC World in the UK - but for the moment thats not going to happen.
